So i bought this

Acer Aspire One, with 160GB HD and the Atom processor with 1Gig RAM for travel/school.

For less than $400 it's a no-brainer, assuming it doesn't explode on me. It won't work as a primary computer as it lacks an optical drive but it is smaller and lighter than an average textbook. I spent last week in europe and did a great deal of walking with it in the shoulder bag and couldn't tell it was there.

Pros: great second computer for travel, plenty of power, does almost everything you need

Cons: only con is no optical drive which is easily remedied by purchasing an external one.
