Foot Knowledgez

I feel some kind of lump developing just forward of the ball of my right foot and just behind the second toe. It doesn't hurt but it's definitely becoming more noticeable so I presume it's growing. It's not detectable from looking at or touching the outside but it's quite noticeable from the inside.

What could such a thing be?

I'm a little foot paranoid because my wife has had a couple of neuroma surgeries and her feet are way fucked up.

Have you been doing a lot of walking/running in barefoot shoes? I noticed something that might be similar when I upped the miles, but it was on both feet.

Morton's neuroma will usually present as more of a pain than a lump.

Check here, but again, these are mostly linked with local pain:
http://www.mborthotics.com/Conditions-T ... -feet.html

- Gout, psoriatic arthritis etc also usually painful.
- May be ganglion cyst (you said no pain...), although distal location is not that common.
- Also 2nd and 3rd metatarsal heads can drop (will often show as callus just in front of metatarsal head). Can adjust and usually will trace to somewhere up the kinetic chain (ankle, tib-ant, knee, pelvis, L4).
- Wart?

Not medical advice, blah blah...

(perhaps move this to training forum?)

I haven't done a lot but I use them for stair sprints and the occasional jump rope session.

Thanks for this. I'll keep an eye on it and bring it up to a doc next time I go. Now that I think about it, I once had a plantar wart and it started out feeling like sort of similarly. Some of those other things make sense too.

Don't know how to change forums.

Could be the start of a blister. I sometimes get them like that on the bottom of my feet.
