Buying or growing weed

I am serious about obtaining a "magical ounce". Does anyone have recommendations on how to go about this - either purchasing seeds and growing or just buying harvested weed.
Q: If I can't buy recreational marijuana for a year, where do I get it?
A: Amendment 64 creates two ways: either grow it yourself or get it from a friend. The amendment allows people to grow up to six plants — only three of which can be flowering, or ready for harvest, at any given time.

Importantly, you can't sell the marijuana you grow yourself. You can gift it to your friends, provided those friends are 21 or older. But selling it is a crime.

For those without green thumbs or horticulturally inclined friends, the next year will be what one Washington marijuana activist dubbed "the year of the magical ounce." (Washington has a similar valley between legalization and retail sales, though the state doesn't allow home growing.) Basically, if you have it — not matter how you got it — you can keep it.

Uh, just get some from somebody. And I don't think you'll need an ounce yet...

Find a guy.

OR

You can always purchase some seeds from High Times. Others I know have had success with this. Remember, it is a weed. It will grow damn near anywhere as long as it has light and water. There are some decent youtube vids on how to go about topping out and harvesting.

Go walk around a college campus for a while.

Try the dorms. If you don't get beat up or arrested, you should probably find what you're looking for.

If you can't find someone to sell you weed in Colorado you probably need to hold someone's hand when you cross the street.

Seriously?

I look like a gigantic square (always wanted to slip that into a conversation) and I'm sure I could go out this afternoon and score an ounce and a bag of fucking pot seeds.

Bucket, you were the last guy I thought would be asking for this type of advice. What next, questions on where the primo online porn is located?

This is something I really have never done. First, I was in the military for nigh on 15 years so I was verboten. Then, I was older and married. I don't hang with hip young folks. The few times I was able to get some was a buddy in a different state. So, yea, I'm an unashamed virgin on this. But saying 'find a guy' probably means you don't know either.

Ask the weed communities on Reddit. They live for this shit. You'll probably get 20 people offering to send you their favorite seeds and a spare vaporizer.

Too True.. =D> =D>

Bux...It's probably worth cultivating a source rather than a plot. The people who grow now are so good at it's just ridiculous.

Say it ain't so Bucket?

This is kind of like finding out Charlie Sheen pays hookers to talk to him.

I'd just ask my coworkers on the down low. One of my analysts is a self described pot head; she'd hook me up in a heart beat.

Did, CO have medical pot before the total legalization? If so, head to a pot dispensory and score some. Once they know you aren't a narc, someone will hook you up with some seeds

Or wait for the next hippie pot festival. Those people are nuts and just asking for an assraping by the DEA.

This is what I was thinking. Yes, there are several dispensaries all over the place.

I guess, in retrospect, my main question was "grow or buy?". Someone answered "buy".

You can grow your own tomatoes, but they'll cost more than if you just bought some from the grocery store, and you'll be out when you need them anyway.

Let somebody else do the work for a little markup. Invest in a vaporizer (there are small ones the size of an iPhone now) - I don't like pot but vaporizing and cooking are the way to go.

You just started smoking and you're already paranoid? Maybe weed's not for you.

Don't grow. Others can do it better and give you stuff of potencies that will suit you.

Also --- at least around here --- they have aircraft flying over that can read "grow lights" in your house. Here, if they find those, and you aren't a licensed grower, you'll get a visit from the cops. Even if you're only growing peppers...

Timmah,

Everyone in CO is a legal grower. I doubt bucket's neighborhood gets patrolled by the DEA and as of this Month, the Local PD don't give two shits.

However, unless you like gardening, you might as well have someone else do the work. The downside of a dispensery is your name listed as a client. The DEA could raid a place and then decide to fuck with the clients to put he fear of God into the citizens of CO.

I would grow my own if I was CO resident.

CO and WA plan on taxing the beejuzzus out of pot. So say good buy to your economies of scale and little mark up.

Growing your own keeps you off the radar with the Feds. When I lived in CA the dispensaries were being raided by the DEA on a weekly basis.

Stupid question. How do you handle passing a random drug test where you work? I've mostly worked for corporations and they've all had drug testing. Plus if you're hurt on the job, a drug test is automatic. I've been random tested three times in the last 10 years. Company rules don't follow State laws.

You would be absolutely right, dick, if any of those things applied to me

It will be interesting to play out how, or if, companies can require their employees not to engage in legal behaviors.

Out firm has articulated that Federal law still applies. That said, there is no firm policy against using drugs, only a prohibition against intoxication or being under the influence while at work.

I've talked to two companies in the past year who now have bans on smoking...anytime. Not sure if they random test for that, but you have to sign some agreement if hired.
