More ammo stuff

Recently had a victim shot with that PDX 410 stuff. I don't know the range at which he was shot. I don't esp like the judge, but if I did I'd get some of this

I very much like the Judge. Own one. This load is particularly effective.

Not a fan of the Judge, but I am of the .45LC. I own a Ruger Redhawk in .45lc that I carry out in the field loaded with Buffalo Bore .45LC P+ rounds 325 gr Lead Flat Nose (1,325 FPS). makes a .44 mag look anemic.

What else are guys using for .45lc defense loads?

Most people don't have a love for that pistol. Down here in the deserts around Tucson, to me it's the best choice-very versatile. First round or two in the cylinder is .410 bird shot, great for snakes. Then I've varied over time with a mix of the PDX round and the Hornady Critical Defense (185gn hp). If I weren't down here, with little need for the shot shell capability, I don't see where it would be a valuable choice. People go astray with it when they have unrealistic expectations. A .410 bird is not a defense choice-not if you're looking to put the guy down. The pistol is really only useful inside that magical 7m range-although I can consistently hit close to center mass at 15m on an E-type with the .45 I wouldn't assume that to be its max effective range.

Had an incident some time back with my dog and some coyotes. It was heading toward dusk, she separated from me and it was easy to tell the coyotes were on to her.. Definitely 2, maybe 3 of them. When I finally got to her, the coyotes were closing in. The shot was outside the range of the pistol (and mine too) but the noise was enough to get them off and running. Coyotes are some smart, clever little fuckers, I can tell you that.

Given that incident, and one with 3 questionable characters off the beaten trail, I'm thinking of picking up at Ruger bolt gun chambered for .45LC/.44mag.

As home defense, the Judge is good for shooting across a room or hallway, and I do like the PDX for that. Works fine for the wife and the boys, and makes up some for the adrenalin dump that contributes so much to missing. For me, I still like the above mentioned .45LC.

And if you're looking to usurp the .44 mag, the .45 Casull is a beaut of a choice.
