I think that he was the best college running back ever.
My first two years of college was at UGA so I might be biased.

Herschel is top 5, maybe top 2 for me in terms of athletic inspiration during the formative years.

Herschel is 12th all time in NCAA rushing yards...yet he only played three years, and the seasons were a couple games shorter back then. I've never seen anyone approach his performance on the field. He is the greatest college running back of all time. Not the best player, not the best pro. But for a college running back that you just toss it to 30 times a game? Some day somebody will be better I guess, but I doubt it will be in my lifetime. Watching his games was like watching a man play among boys.

I found it a couple of years ago on amazon.co.uk quite cheap (compared to that).

I own that book. Not exactly a great book. Interesting because Herschel's work out and eating routine was at the time a complete 180 from standard practice. Herschel was doing the warrior diet before there was a warrior diet.

I read the book in the Fall of '85. I need to find it now if the going price is $135.
I didn't think too much of the book at the time and still don't. Push-ups. sit-ups and sprints don't build traps like Walker has. Outstanding DNA does that.
I read Eric Dickerson's book in the early 90s. He said walker was full of shit when he stated that he didn't lift weights.

I have the Herschel book somewhere. Not bad, not great. Dr. Terry Todd kept it organized.

Oh yeah. For me it'd definitely be a sentimental purchase.

I loved watching Dickerson run the ball.
