this may be of value to some people here.
If you don't want to listen to the youtube podcast, here are his notes.
Today we are going to get into my top 5 mind hacks for better eating (and living). The mental aspect of nutrition is often the limited factor in our success. Is our mind helping or hurting us to do the things that we need to do each day in order to reach our goals?
In this episode I share with you 5 of my goto mental strategies for winning the hand to hand combat that is daily healthy living. They are:
This is it
There Isn’t One Rhythm

What are you Committed to?
Next Time
To help you put today’s show into action in your life faster, I wanted to expand on two of the strategies in today’s show.
What are you Committed to?
Nutrition can get complicated. Exercise can get complicated. Life is increasingly complex and complicated. This is why
When you think of your health, what are you committed to? If you had to distill down ONE central aspect of healthy living what would it be? Mine is protein and vegetables. I’m committed to eating protein and vegetables when I have a meal. I know that my diet won’t be perfect all the time (nor should it be) but I know that I’ll do everything I can to have protein and vegetables when I eat.
On the road - protein and vegetables.
Out on a dinner date with my wife - protein and vegetables.
Hiking in the woods - protein and vegetables.
My commitment to eating protein and vegetables at every meal is a gateway habit to other aspects of living a strong, fit, and healthy life - like drinking more water, eating more minimally processed foods, and more.
What can you be committed to? Here are some ideas…
Protein and Vegetables at every meal.
Water at every meal.
Getting in 10,000 steps per day.
Meditating for 7 minutes each day.
Getting 7-8 hours of sleep each night.
Taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Eating a protein rich breakfast.
It is all too easy and common to…
“start on Monday”
“get back to healthy eating after the party”
“just have these 3 slices of pizza now and get back on the plan later”
We can easily keep pushing off healthy eating, getting in our exercise, not even staying on the plan but starting the plan by moving your commitment to a future time.
The problem is that the future moment is never going to be just right. It might never come. Our health and body are built one meal at a time, meal after meal. Whether we want to admit it to ourselves or not the healthy decisions that we are pushing off do matter and do count.
So when you get in that moment where you want to push your ‘diet’ off to Monday say to yourself
“This is it.”
The meal in front of you matters. Cast your vote about your health and fitness goals now with what you choose to eat.
I have personally found the ‘this is it’ reminder to be one of the most powerful triggers for me to realign with what is truly important to me (nutrition, family, etc) when moments of deviation arise.
