Considering the Court waited until the last day of the term to hear oral argument I'm not surprised at the result. I also thought I detected more snark than usual between justices in opinions leading up to Trump. But the reasoning was Orwellian, and the high handed tone taken by the majority reads more like diktat than a considered opinion by a high court.

I'm surprised there isn't any discussion of this here. Maybe it's just too hot.

It’s ghastly. That it’s split down partisan lines makes it seem very much a sculpted get-out-of-jail free card for Trump, without thought of the negative consequences that a bad actor—such as Trump—would unleash.

There's been plenty of chatter over various iterations of IG and even as far back as the Dragon Door OT boards about this fake ass R v. D horseshit. It's a completely played out game. A lot of folks who found their way here see through it. Arguing over witch corporate entity you'd like to toil under is lame. There are no countries, just corporations. The internet is not a real place. Iffin' you're into wasting your life arguing with people you don't know over shit that is completely out of your hands, fine. I don't get it, but I also don't care. Enjoy.

I tend to look at politics like Ron - but this decision (and I know very little about it) - seems bizarre. Why possibly would you pour time and resources into setting up something potentially volatile and unnecessary?

Oh, it's bizarre as fuck, my dude. But to suggest that Trump is the weird part is to ignore ... every-fucking-thing-else. Trump will come and Trump will go. Wacky as hell? Sure. No argument there. But if you look at the entirety of the American political system and come away thinking Trump is the problem, well, Corporate/State funded propaganda worked on you precisely how they paid for it to. As for the rest of Earth's population, take it in. Enjoy it. Just as long as you aren't brown and sound funny, we likely won't bomb the shit out of you. So ya have that goin' for ya.
