'71 was very good.

You looking for more? This is something near and dear to my family's heart. My Grandfather was born on the Dun Drum road in County Down. My mom lived there while it was getting hot and heavy in the early 70s.

Some good ones:

Some Mother's Son
Titanic Town
In the Name of the Father
The Boxer

Yeah, Omagh was decent.

The Wind That Shakes the Barley, Micheal Collins, etc. about the Rising and the Civil war are excellent. I was trying to limit myself to more modern films.

There is a series of three one hour documentaries, narrated by Liam Neeson, about the Easter Rising. They are really terrific.

Aye Bobby is correct, regardless of the validity (or not) of their political views the IRA were nasty pieces of work, as were the other military groups in the area. YouTube the corporal killings and look up the shankill butchers, (UVF people). ISIS aint doing nothing new!

Inside the Provisional Irish Republican Army is a great book on the RIRA and the IRA, 2 different animals with common roots.

The PIRA politics were leftist, many of the rank and file were in it because they were the most active and effective and damn they were good at what they did.

Am example of how to fight unconventional war in a modern first world nation.
