Holy shit, they spent a lot of money on this show!
Two episodes in and the overall vibe is good enough to continue. I just don't feel connected enough to the actors and various plot threads to give much of a fuck.
Which is more or less how I feel about the Game of Thrones prequel so far. Good enough to continue. Don't really care.
Solid B for both

By any reasonable, not butt-hurt-nit-picky-nerd standard, these shows are amazing. I'm sick of how entitled my fellow nerd has become. These shows are served up for my kind on a platter, yet they still seem to find great fault. Back to the lockers with the nerds. But my nerd-hate aside, both shows are very much worthwhile.

Ultimately, I want connection to the characters. Is someone funny, charismatic, engaging? Do I care if they live or die, succeed or fail? A couple episodes in to both shows, I'm not sure that I can say that about any character. Mmmmaybe the hot daughter of the Hand...
I will say it's crazy Amazon is willing to create a product that quality wise is at the same level as Lord of the Rings. Whether it's showing up to the port city with the giant statues, having fireflies form stars, or visit the Dwarven kingdom, it's all tremendously well done.
