Re: GHB
Renewtrient and other supplements based on furanone were pretty popular back in the late 90's, sold as a GHB substitute. I had some friends pass out in interesting places and situations from mixing a few shots with alcohol, but it did promote some great sleep.

i took tennis, ball room dance and swim conditioning. In swim conditioning I almost had to save our starting qb from drowning. I asked him why he had so much trouble and he told me "brothers can't swim." I had never heard that before.

Re: Un Chat Littéraire
Zen is, at best, a corrupt derivation of buddhism. Sakyamuni shows a cat a flower and everybody starts catchin' feelins. heh. More seriously; reading about zen without understanding the basic buddhist program does not strike me as particularly helpful. The Four Noble Truths, Eightfold Path, Three Ch...

Inherent Vice - Thomas Pynchon
Good shit, nice 60's hippie PI story. If you've read a lot of his books, think Crying of Lot 49 rather than GR. Very easy to read, no concentration required to track characters or where the story is going. Enjoyable, fun story.

If it could do that plus go browse databases like JSTOR and EBSCO and download the pdfs I would definitely buy one.Pinky wrote:If they could make these things better at handling PDFs I might by one. If I could also scribble on the PDFs and save the result, I would definitely buy one.

Re: Anybody have one of those new 3 lb computers?
i have one. Works great, i have big hands and make very few mistakes on the little keyboard. The battery does really last 5-6 hours. The only drawback I've found is the lack of an optical drive. Totally worth the $400. Mine weighs 2.2 lbs and is smaller than a text book, makes travel a lot easier.

Sorry for not including the link. There are several gems in there, as well as a few points that made me laugh out loud, especially when he says that practicing neijiaquan will get you all the results that the sitting meditation guys get without driving you nuts. Formosa Neijia - Science of Internal Strength Boxing
Dave Chesser sells a nice little pdf of "The Science of Internal Strength Boxing" on his blog. It was written in the 30's by a neijia practitioner and the author takes a very straightforward approach to explaining popular IMA concepts from his perspective, which happens to lack a lot of th...
