Re: Solo: A Star Wars Story

It was kind of like a decent cover of your favorite band. You know there is no way it's as good as the original, but can still be entertaining if you don't go in with pre-conceived notions of how things should be.

A CROSSFIT trainer has been accused of treating his female clients “like pieces of meat” after filming their backsides during a workout session and uploading the video to Instagram. Re: Bonkers UFO stories in the New York Times

I don't know, I would expect now that everyone has a digital camera and camcorder attached to their hands, we would be seeing a lot more video and reports of UFO's not fewer. One thing I know for sure, is that no species intelligent enough for interstellar travel is coming to Earth just to stick a p...

Spoilers below. . . . . Spoilers . . . I was 10 when Star Wars came out for the first time. As an engineer and nerd, I loved the original trilogy. I disliked the prequels. If you disliked the concept of midichlorians, that Anakin was immaculately conceived, and that the Skywalker bloodline is the he...

I really liked it, and I thought they finally made Superman, Superman. His character was finally the Super Boy Scout of the comics.

Re: Anyone cook Sous Vide?

Yeah, Sous Vide is cool. I use the Anova. I've done chicken breasts that are cooked through and super juicy. Prime rib that is the perfect temp all the way through. I'll make a paste of spices and butter and slather the prime rib with it after cooking and broil it 10 minutes to make a nice crust.

Re: Jack Reacher

I pretty much agree with the original post. Not as good as the first movie. I felt int he first movie, they made better use of Reacher's investigative skills, intelligence, and righter of wrongs. The second movie was simply more of a cookie cutter action flick.

Re: Tablet advice

In your case, the camera on the tablet is going to be the most important feature. Many tablets, especially the lower cost ones, have shitty cameras. I would say read the reviews and pay special attention to the camera sections. Although I'm not a huge Apple fan, usually the iPhones and iPads have th...

I liked it, but as mentioned Seven Samurai and The original Magnificent 7 do better town development of the towns people. I liked Pratt's character. I didn't like how Denzel's character carried his gun. Seemed impractical to me. D'onofrio was great, making me forget who it was. On battle carnage an...

The recruiter in me is compelled to throw out a different perspective: remote work. I have had the very good fortune to work remote pretty much exclusively, for years now. The cost savings of dialing trips into the office are dramatic. I realize not everyone can pull this off for all roles, but it'...

There's a 4? I know there was an Ip-Man that did not have Donnie Yen, but the three with him are thoroughly enjoyable to watch, 3 a little less so than the first two. To me they are kind of grand and epic in their story telling in a similar way that some western classics are like The Searchers with ...

I can second the Subaru recommendtions. I have the Impreza sport. The Crosstrek is basically the exact same car, just lifted a few inches. We just got my wife a Forester. We did the debate between the Forester and Outback, but the Forester is less expensive. Cars that were a little more expensive we...

A lot of people don't know this, but Gordie used to go to Tiger stadium and hang with the baseball players, they would occasionally have him do batting practice, and he could hit them out of the park.

I picked one up because I also have a 4K TV. It's one of the streaming devices that will output in 4K.
Playing some of the games if actually pretty fun. I've not run Kodi yet, but probably will soon. Plex runs fine, as does a ton of other apps.
