I got a $155 speeding ticket today, caught by a plane. I drive with a radar detector. The trooper joked that I should get a sun roof in my next car.

Any way to detect plane surveillance?

Any way to challenge these tickets? I think they need a spotter car at the finish line to radio up to the troopers ahead who to stop. Not quite sure how it works.

Try obeying the law your claim to be an expert in.

Put a huge mirror on your roof of your pickup. I practically guarantee it will work.

The police who intercept speeders are down stream of the aerial surveillance. How else will they stop you?

Look up to see aircraft flying in a circle or parallel to the road. Flight time is pricey so they have to maximize the time they can measure speeders. You should never trust any aircraft with which you're not communicating. At best they're neutral. It's not paranoia, just good practice.

Unless the Man is using some sort of gadget in the air they're clocking you some how. Probably using white lines painted on the road. If you see such lines on the road you better be slowing down and looking around and up.

If the Police officer is telling the truth. Ohio uses speed light cameras. Maybe a robot clocked you using lasers perpendicular to traffic flow? Your detector won't catch those. Local departments in PA use them. They are very precise. They resemble swimming pool lamps. Gotta be watching for those.

You might beat the case if Case Law contains references to uncertainty in speed measurement.

I'm not a police officer. I encounter speed traps every day. Only been pulled over three times in the last two years. I break a lock at least once a week. Means that I was going fast but braked before I could be measured going too fast. This also implies that I was not going too fast. If you break a lock and at the end are still above the limit you're speeding.

I don't think the Police mind. Alert people avoid accidents.

Shitbags on cell phones who are speeding are meat on their plates. If you were using a cell phone while driving Counselor enjoy your ticket. If you weren't using a cell phone while driving don't start.

You should be checking Case Law. Maybe a Case using a VASCAR or other system will also pertain to air craft measurements. Unless they were using a robot. Or a drone. Police are allowed to lie to you. Right?

If there's one thing to be learned from this it's that telling a cop you were going the same speed as the person in front of you doesn't work when that person is an ambulance driver.

Gene, 3 tickets in two years is not exactly a ringing endorsement. Most non-state agencies run vascar so your radar is useless.

Here's how to not get caught:
If speed limit is 65, no more than 74.
If 55, no more than 62.
Anything below 45 don't do more than 5 over.

It's not worth the effort for them to write you unless they're extremely motivated or low on quota. Not full proof, but in 6 years of babysitting traffic stops this is the pattern I've noticed.

Shouldn't a lawyer know better places than the Internet to get these answers?

This would be pretty much how it would be if I were leading this mess. I'd take of this law enforcement technique just after I euthanized the elderly to make room for the young.

I wouldn't do that for speeding but, if you pull your phone out when behind the wheel, you have to go. The most dangerous drivers that I see are those who are not paying attention - when driving quickly, people usually are aware of what they're doing.

Speeding is a sort of limited definition anyway. You are an experienced driver, on good roads, in a well-maintained car that you are used to driving and 10mph over is reasonable. You are a young kid in your friend's 25-year old beater that shakes when it gets over 50mph and you should have zero leeway.
