Wedding rings and training

I've got a wedding coming up and need to select a wedding band. I know a few people who have managed to lose multiple wedding bands at the beach/pool/gym and wondered if that was the case of somebody being especially careless or if it's a pretty standard hazard.

Also wondered how you mitigate that, if at all. I spend a fair amount of time on or in the water, and would likely take off a ring any time I went to the gym. I was thinking about getting one in tungsten so I don't have to worry about replacing a precious metal ring, but then considered that actually losing one might be rare with some basic precautions.

Suggestions?

I've got a cheap ass band that I've had for almost 15 years. I either put it on my key chain or I leave it in the car.

We had nice bands for the wedding, and for occasions where we need to dress up.

For day to day we both have stainless steel bands, hers has a little fake gem thing in it, too. Even then she takes hers off when she throws and lifts, and I take mine off when I run and lift.

Mine was made by a friend out of titanium hydraulic tubing. I've lost two so far. I'm going to order another two and save one as backup. The wife is none the wiser.

I was stupid and got a nice one, and because I dont want to wreck or lose it I have worn all of two days in 8 years. BD's suggestion is nice.

Just buy as cheap one that you only wear at clubs and bars when you are looking to pick up a lady for the night.

Mine is permanently on my key chain. The second one, that is. I lost the first one within a few months of getting it. The second one has been on the keys for 25 years.

I take mine off before any work out, yard work, or anything else that might scratch it. I also take it off when cooking and often don't wear it at night. I've never lost my ring as a result of intentionally taking it off.

The one time I did lose my ring, I was playing with my dogs in the back yard. The ring was loose because it was cold out and I didn't notice when it fell off. I rented a metal detector to find it. My back yard is relatively small, and finding that ring was still a massive pain in the ass.

So be careful when it's cold.

I recommend having a different set of random initials inscribed on each of these. Then you could have a good laugh if your wife ever does find out.

Mine is white gold. I've had it going on 4 years and it has a few scratches but I just take it off when I lift or do yard work. I've never lost it but I have an odd memory method for shit like that.

I just put mine in my gym bag while I lift.
Only lost it once while I was working under the house in the crawl space. The fine dust from the pea gravel down there allowed it to slip off. My house was built in the late sixties and there were a ton of those old style pop tab rings mixed in with the gravel. It took me 3-4 hours to find my ring but I thought I found it about 200 times picking up pop tabs.

Also, titanium is cool to me because it gets scuffed up as it gets older. I like the idea of a weddin ring showing some wear and tear.

The wife lost one in the gym and I lost one while swimming - don't think that there is any real solution other than having a good place to take it off.

Get divorced then you don't have to wear one.

I swallow mine before I lift and shit it out later.

Buy a cheap steal band if you're worried about. It may be important to your bride, but in all reality is just another BS expense propagated by the jewelry industry, our consumerism addicted society and our vapid female population.

At one time, people bought simple plain gold bands, if that. Nowadays, empty headed chicks demand their soon to be eunuchs, at a minimum, spend the equivalent of the purchase price of a Honda civic on an engagement and wedding rings.

As a side note, I have jumped out of fast moving planes and boats wearing my wedding band and have yet to lose it. The only time I take it off is for grappling, boxing, and working around machinery.

Whatever you do; choose a low profile and simple wedding band. Every idiot I knew that bought some fancy men's band, fucked it up. If you are half way active, your band is going to get scuffed up like crazy. Simpler is better IMO.
