I'm driving around at lunchtime and I hear Huckabee on Fox News Radio and he's complaining that the moron from Missouri that made the "legitimate rape" comment (Akin?) is being pilloried by the media.

As proof of a so-called double standard, he says he can't remember a similar outcry when a 'certain President committed moral wrongdoing in the White House with an intern' (obviously referencing Clinton).

I scratched my head and said WTF??????

Not only was their an outcry, the entire government ground to a halt while Republicans tried to impeach Clinton. Millions upon millions were spent by Ken Starr to investigate. The media could talk about nothing else for months and months.

Is Huckabee really that stupid? Akin being taken to task is somehow different than the rightwing going apeshit over Clinton?

I hear similar "double standard" complaints from rightwingers. But the right has tons of media outlets these days. Turn on AM radio. Watch Fox. Browse the blogs. Read National Review.

This persecution complex is ridiculous. It's just strawman after strawman after strawman to whip up the base. The worst part is, judging from Facebook, that is all politics is anymore. LOL

I forgot to mention, the theme for Huckabee's show was that there is a double standard in this country when dealing with "people of faith."

Apparently, (1) Akin saying something ridiculous was a result of his "faith," and (2) calling him on it means Christians are being persecuted again by "THE MEDIA!!!!!!"

My opinion is that Christians get attacked b/c they're annoying, say stupid shit, and use the government to pass laws making us all behave the way they do.

We can only hope that, one day, Christians in this country can truly be free. Neigh, perhaps even become President one day.

When a conservatives get real happy because a lib says something moronic like Joe Biden, you can count on a story about something moronic a conservative said being reported incessantly soon thereafter. I think there are two reasons for this. First, the mainstream media really is hostile towards religious conservatives. Second, religious conservatives say some very dumb shit.

I hope the Chik-Fil-A protests were ginned up by the fact that libs such as politicians in Boston and Chicago publicly stated that they wanted to prevent the company from opening new establishments in their cities. At least I hope that's why.

Aside from those in search of butt-hurtness, it's a battle for the "moderate" or swing voter. To the extent this person watches the news, it's probably ABC/NBC/CBS. So the mainstream media's perspective/spin matters.

Back to 2008 for a minute: didn't it seem odd that the mainstream media was more concerned about Sarah Palin's foreign policy vacuum than about Obama's? Remember when he claimed that his few childhood years in Indonesia gave him foreign policy gravitas?
