Sweet dreams and God speed, Michael.

Not many of you will have heard of Michael. I'd never heard of him before just now, when I read that he died at the weekend. He worked as an office clerk up to 1987 in Hull and died peacefully in his sleep on Friday night. He was married with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. I don't know anything else about him. RIP brother.

Losing Neil Armstrong was bad enough. Then there was the shock of Wanderlei Silva's father. I just needed to mourn someone I'd never met in a more personal way. I hope that, in my small way, this pitiful RIP for eh, Michael, adds nothing to each of your lives. And that by starting an RIP post I rise myself up (even though I never do a fucking thing for living people in need).

RIP Marvin Bowmintier.

Perhaps this can give you some peace Gorby:

No Man Is An Island

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

And:

There was a young man named Shape
Who got his freak on at night, in a cape
His partner against crime
Personally knew Father Time
And didn't mind at all anal rape

He may be gone but I still feel his presence. He'll be missed at Yuletide most of all.
