I'm still convinced those folks put that accent on for tourists. And that guy was not a real blind man either.
Poynton has a shared space concept with traffic which seems to work well. Less rules can often get things done more smoothly. The Daoists and Anarchists have been saying this for years.

The only thing I can think of better would be the death penalty for traffic violations

We have that in Italy too. The only problem is, you are supposed to stop at the lights.

do you live in Turin, Gav?
I went to Northern Italy earlier this year. I can see why you don't bother coming back home. I'm as patriotic as the next man but they do literally everything better than us. The only exception I could think of was ale, and even then their wine more than compensates. Maybe rugby too, but again the footy would compensate.

In that case (and under many circumstances) you would LOVE IT if I were in charge of things.

If you do get to be in charge, I think people - mainly women - who use mobile phones while driving should have their ears or tongue cut off. Can you support this please?

I love this, but I think it's a culture specific thing. Can't imagine it working out well in Brooklyn.

It probably wouldn't work in the center of London, either.

I don't think that's in New York, m8.

I don't think it would work well any place that doesn't have traffic circles. We've all seen "natural experiments" in which a power outage shuts off lights at intersections. The results are never good.

I don't think this place had traffic circles at the time of the experiment

All of the intersections weren't circles, but that video definitely showed some. I think that matters. Circles require drivers to fit in with others in ways that they otherwise wouldn't.
If you tried that in the Midwest where most drivers can't competently merge onto the Interstate and nearly all of them believe that no lights means people on the larger road can do what they want, you would have chaos.

Yes I live in Turin.
I don't think I could go back anymore. Every time I go I can't wait to get and after three days walking through Derby city center it feels like I'm in a scene from 'The Deliverance'.
As for the ale, I gave up drinking bitter when I got here because it was crap. They've got better at over time but I stick to my trusty 'Moretti'. Supporting Juventus is also a lot easier than supporting Derby County.

No, I think he means that they
don't use Vasoline, making the men of Derby more like the men in Deliverance than he prefers.

I dunno, Derby County have never had match fixing scandals or whatever the fuck got Juve relegated a few seaons ago. The again, Derby County have never done a season unbeaten at the top level, so swings and roundabouts son, swings and roundabouts...
