GlobalPost correspondent Tracey Shelton was filming a feature on the daily life of Syrian opposition fighters when a mundane chore for the men turned into a bloodbath.

Shelton camped with the opposition’s Noor Den al-Zenke battalion in their makeshift home on a narrow street in Aleppo. Jokes were being told one morning and laughter was in the air as the men cleaned their post. When an alert came that a Syrian Army tank had been spotted nearby the men dropped their brooms and reached for their weapons.

In an instant, an explosion tore through their ranks. Shelton shot as it happened. Of the men at the post, only one survived the blast.

Standing in an enclosed alley is just plain stupid. You fight armor in an urban environment from the roof tops or basements. This puts you out of range of the main gun and MGs allowed elevation.

Standing in an enclosed alley is just plain stupid. You fight armor in an urban environment from the roof tops or basements. This puts you out of range of the main gun and MGs allowed elevation.

I too support regimes whose initial reaction to non-violent protests was to shoot into the crowds and bomb civilians. You do realize Syria was considered one of the most anti-US countries in the world under Assad? As in a sponsor of terrorism?

Non-violence was maintained for nearly a year. The rebels are taking money from whomever will give them money. If you read any interviews from the rebels you'd realize it is pretty clear they are not fighting for any outside groups, they are just taking funds from whomever will give it to try to survive against Assad's overwhelming force.

And yet it was people from as our allies, the Saudis and that funded the 911 terrorists and Al Queda. They are all Muslims. They are all enemies of the West and Specifically the USA. I have no illusions about the Asads, but i can say one thing about them They haven't signed up for the Islamic world domination Jihad like their Sunni citizens have. What is happening in the Muslim world is the Sunnis getting their shit together (as much as camel fuckers can) and getting ready to isolate and go after the Shite Iranians. With the Bathists and crazy Quadafi gone, most of the Arab speaking Muslim countries in the heart of the middle east will be controlled by Sunni religious governments. Jordan is next, they will have to go. Then you can bet the Saudis nuke up and start fucking with Iranians.

True story, because the US was instrumental in supporting the overthrow of Qaddafi the relations between the US and Libya are better than they have been in decades and decades. Sounds crazy, but generally when a population starts an uprising on its own, you give them support, and then don't try to take over their government afterwards they warm up to you. What we are seeing is a realignment of the Sunni world against the Shiites and Iran. Part of this process is taking down the various Arab Nationalist regimes, followed by the left over Arab kingdoms. Then they will settle up with the Shiites and Jews. If Syria falls, Jordan is next, followed by the gulf state kingdoms.

This whole fucking mess has to viewed through the Sunni Arab mind set and their desire for the establishment of a Caliphate, elimination of the Shiites, and the subjugation of the non believing world.
