It's not Romney's job to care about 47% of Americans

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," Romney is shown saying. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it."

The GOP presidential nominee goes on to say his "job is is not to worry about those people. I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."

This guy's elitist bullshit ain't gonna carry him far, especially when most years he probably pays little to no income tax himself.

This election will be a blowout.

I'm NOT a Romney supporter but it seems pretty clear, to me, that he's talking about his job right now, which is getting elected. He's not saying, as President, it would not be my job to worry about half the country.

And he's right: it's not his job right now to worry about the 47% that are not going to change their mind. It's his job to go after the so-called independents, which is what he goes on to tell the group.

But I'm sure people that already dislike him will beat him over the head with this for the next few weeks.

Jeeze Bluto, the 47% he refers to are people without sufficient income to pay taxes on it, like children, the elderly, disabled, uneducated, etc. Read the smearing condescension towards nearly half the American population.

Blow-out.

Stands to reason, Thud, that if half of the Population cannot afford taxes that those tax rates are too damn high. We need to cut the tax rates some more. Make the rates flatter. This would force people to earn more because the more they earn the more they keep. People would have an incentive to get certified, educated and grow their skills, become more productive.

EIC is nice for really poor folks. You know, the ones who live ten to an apartment and struggle to eat. Like other programs EIC has become abused for the benefit of politicians, so that they can buy votes.

GWB had the same strategy - Rove worked things out to where he didn't need to worry about half the country or even pretend to care. He mobilized his base and got just enough votes in the swing states to win the election.

Obama's not going to be going to that many red states unless they have enough supporters to give him some cash.

I agree with him that it's not his job to try and convince people who are never going to vote for him to do so. I do think that he should pretend to care about enough independent voters to get them to vote for him.

I dislike Romney but, like most things in this election, what he said is fairly accurate though delivered in a manner that allows him to be gang-raped by the media and people who want to do anything to keep him from being elected.

Listen, when a guy admits that ALL (has to include all to get to 47%) children, elderly, disabled, poor, etc, are outside of his constituency, he's gonna have serious problems '"connecting". Even if it is all codewords for "spics" and "niggers".

What is "disgusting goatfucker that lives in its mother's basement" a code for?

Romney is too stupid to pander to illiterate, unemployed losers. If he were smart, he'd spend all his time trying to convince welfare cases that they'd be better off getting a job than sucking the Federal Teat.

I like the honesty.

Not sure who is running his campaign but they are banking on blacks and young people not being infatuated with Obama and forgetting to come out to vote. Romney needs people with tons of money to keep backing him so he can mount some kind of last moment targeted campaign. Rather than try to convince independents, he is trying to be sure the ultra-conservative Christians decide that a white Mormon is better than a black guy of any background.

It should be a slam dunk and the biggest blowout since 1984.

However, Obama is running out the clock and playing things safe - I think it could be far closer than anybody really thinks.

Obama makes the reasonable "You didn't build that" statement to bolster his argument that entrepreneurs didn't build the system and infrastructure that allows them to succeed.

Romney makes the legitimate argument that people who don't pay income taxes and are recipients of gov't largesse aren't his voters. He makes the additional - WTF people! - point that almost half of the population is getting gov't monies which is outrageous.

To listen to the news and pundits, you'd think both of them raped a puppy. Shitfuck, Amurikka is a dumb fucking country. We deserve our forthcoming doom.

The truth. It is to be avoided at all costs, ridiculed when it rears its ugly head, and used as ammunition against the other party when they're dumb enough to speak it.

We absolutely deserve everything we get when we choose the shit sandwich over the giant douche and believe our chosen side actually gives one fuck about anything other than lining the pockets of their corporate benefactors.

The system that even gets down to such a decision needs to be blown up.

You could say the same thing every two years for the last 212 years.

It's the problem when we and the media care more about what people say than what they do.

If someone says something dumb - let them be dumb. Everyone says stupid stuff, it's just when a politician says it that we expect they are gods who make no error.

I bet that more people can name a nasty quote that their most hated politician said (probably out of context) than people can name a bill that the same politician supported or defeated.
