Anybody here have any experience with Esperanto or Esperantists? I don't, but I'm sure somebody here has an interesting story. Need not involve barbells.

I have had the opportunities to sit next to have of the Esperanto community on one flight or the other.

All delight in telling you about their hobby and predicting bold things for it in the future.

I think of it as the CrossFit of languages.

My wife took Esperanto classes as a child, and I think her father still has the Serbo-Croatian text books, I've seen them when I visit. Tito was a fan and promoted it in conjunction with the Conference of Non-Aligned States, which was his brainchild.

From trying to be all things to all people, it's not a bad analogy though the practitioners are passionate, not assholes.

That's really interesting - other totalitarians (esp CCCP) discouraged it for various reasons. Tito sure was an interesting chap.
