After living through Andrew, seeing how people acted and the fact that now I have the family to look after, I'll save the beer and other things till after it's all over.
And then I'll get FUCKED!

I live near you. What's your prediction? My guess is lots of rain and the power might go out.

You really can't predict these bastards. Andrew was suppossed to be heading right for where I lived in Lauderdale and it turned sout and raped Homestead. It still rocked us hard enough and we had no power for about 3 days. The scum were out in force and the cops seemed non existant.
I am hoping for rain and crossing my fingers the power stays on but I will not bank on hope and positive wishes so I am getting ready to get clobbered here.
But if I had to lay money on it, I'm with you.
I'm within 1/4 mile of a marina on the Occuquan in Woodbridge but I live on a hill.
Where you at?

I have bread and peanut butter. Not much else. The subways are shutting down overnight, so I have to drive to manhattan for work tonight. I live very close to Coney Island, and that is supposedly being evacuated. My only real worry is if they close the bridges and tunnels before I finish work tonight I could be stranded in the city. My job would spring for a hotel room, but weekday parking is a bitch, and I have no doubt that every meter maid and tow truck in the city will be out tomorrow.

PB&J will last you a while. Get more if you can along with some bottled water. I have a wife and a baby, so built up some supplies after the last hurricane. I never would have worried too much about this when I was single.

Exactly. And I am. And if I get stuck at work, it's one of the worlds best steakhouses.

I can't think of a better place to be "stuck" than at a steakhouse.

I'm here on the West Coast. Just completed a multi-stage move, looking off the back porch, weather's around 75 degrees, no clouds. Cup of coffee too.
What's the big deal?

We'll talk the next time the ground beneath you acts like a quarter activated bed at a sleezy motel.

A-ha motherfucker. I'm a solid 150 miles away from the nearest major fault line. Had some cousins living in the near Oakland area when the 89 Loma Prieta 'quake hit. Fucked up their whole street. We were dodging a tornado in Texas right around then, so we weren't too sympathetic.
Stay dry Darf. Make it out okay and I'll be here, waiting, ready to tell you to fuck off.

My wife's cousin probably lives within spitting distance of you. I moved here 2 years ago and will probably stay here. Overall, it's a good area. But "Hoodbridge" does have some shady areas.

We live in Blemont aka Riverbend Estates in Hoodbridge.
Nice by me but some parts of Hoodbridge can be a bit shady but not like Dale City. Kaz would loath that place.
Sounds like your right near Dumfries. There is Georgetown South right there. Some Lib friends of mine lived around there and recently moved to Maryland and it just pained her to admit that the reason they left is because the ghetto trash would not control their nigglets and did not want their son growing up around that shit. At least now they live in a development in Southern Maryland where there are decent black folks with jobs.
This is a decent area as far as the metro area goes but I am still planing on going somehwere between Front Royal and here. I want woods and the ability to legally piss and shoot off my porch.

Hey now-- this area got hit by a nasty earthquake last year that caused several seconds of discomfort and damaged two buildings. You wouldn't understand the terror this caused.

Darth,
I met a guy last Friday who was a victim of a home invasion last May. He said he lives south of 234 near the 7 eleven and dunkin donouhghts in a new area. 2 teens broke in and threatened him and his wife and threatened to put their baby in a freezer. I was picking up a rifle from a ffl and this guy was getting a glock for his wife. His wife is now pro firearms. My area doesn't have much crime, but I don't take any chances. My wife thinks I'm paranoid, but that's part of my job.
