What can you tell me about the area around the War Memorial Theater?

Context? As a place to live? Or are you just looking for good restaurants?

Oh yeah, that's right.
I'm um, *cough*going to the Nutcracker next Thursday*cough* and I'm only somewhat familiar with the area. As in, I know it's not a complete shit hole.
Restaurants, a quiet-ish bar or two.

Given that you're sitting through a night of dance, I'll assume you're looking to impress someone and not go to a dive.
Cocktails before the show at Absinthe.

If you really want to throw down for dinner: Jardiniere w.jardiniere.com/food.php
Another good option and less frilly is Zuni Cafe. They've been around forever-a true local's place but always great.

Drinks after-maybe more casual: Orbit Room
http://orbitroomcafe.com/ or Place Pigalle
http://www.placepigallesf.com/ Pigalle is beer and wine only but fun. Haven't been to Orbit Room but heard it was good.
Make dinner reservations ASAP.

Jardiniere. Yes. Never been myself, but my brother worked there for about a year, and loved it.

That's more or less it.
I'll check those spots out.
Looks like the reservations are already booked up a bit.... I'm just hoping I don't fall asleep through the show

hey one more thought: you're competing for dinner reservations with everyone attending the show. Why not go to dinner somewhere else and cab or BART over?
If you're open to that, there's a dozen places in the City I could recommend.

Sure. I'm totally open to that. Unless we wanted to eat at 3:30, it looked like we were out of luck.
Thanks by the way.

Boulevard (Financial district). This will get you laid.

Bistro Aix (Marina). Great French-not over the top fancy or expensive.

Gamine (Cow Hollow). Casual but nice French.

I'm pretty sure ill be fine as long as there are no wrinkles in the matrix, but going a little bigger definitely won't hurt.
