Didn't even know it was an unofficial "Gun Appreciation Day" yesterday, but I picked up one of these:

Very light, versatile, comfortable for my wife as well. Fires 45 Colt or 410 shotshells. With a little customization of the stock, it will be possible to use a speed loader as well.

If capacity is an issue for you, why not use higher power 30-30 with a magazine holding 10 cartridges. Can't fault you on the fun aspects of the style or 45 colt. I've always wanted a saddle gun chambered in 45-70. Kind of a monster cartridge and probably accounted for the near extinction to the buffalo herd.

I hear the blow back out of the cylinder is bad because of how close your face is to it. When you shot it did you find that to be true?

I wanted a revolver carbine, not a lever gun. Just because. If I was worried about volume of fire, I would have spent less money on a modern 45ACP HI-Point carbine. I don't plan to fight the government or gangsters, this is a multipurpose camp/truck/range gun that can double on home defense if needed. But I doubt I'll ever need it for that.

for those who don't care about the shotshells, they make it in a 44 magnum model.

They put some deflectors on it that seem to handle that. I'll get it to a range next weekend.

Its like I tell my son, if you cant solve your problem with 6 rounds, you probably cant solve your problem with bullets.

Started fixing the crappy stock finish Rossi puts on their wood. I'm not a fan of the reddish tint they use, either, I'm staining it browner. I think it'll actually look nice when done.

Done!
It's a tad less red than this pic appears...it's a mystery hardwood, kind of a mahogany shade now.
Planning a day at the range tomorrow with this, a High-Power clone, and maybe a Mosin Nagant.

It's kind of cool to hold a weapon that was carried and virtually guaranteed to have been used in WWII. The receiver's dated 1939 on this one. I found a sniper model too, but have to locate a period scope and mount for it. Probably budget for that a few months from now.

Okay- didn't get to shoot any one gun a lot due to crowding as the 4 of us had to share one lane, but I did get to try all three weapons. I'll put reviews up.
