He's a "northern" type southerner. Further south, they talk fast and twangy. Truth is, I would have guessed he was more a Virginia or Kentucky boy, but West Virginia is pretty accurate. You'll have to ask RBSG to be sure, but the more Northern Southern accents always sound to me like they are trying to talk around a marble in their mouth.

I am loving this!!!! And agreed on the dialect you are referring to. The McDowell County giant speaks as though he is from Pikeville or Lawerence County. I shit you not, I often have to translate for court reporters when I take some of these folks depositions. It's awesome.

I've known a million guys who fit the mold of Swagmaster. Talking a line of shit that is 50 miles long and 10 miles deep, will either get KTFO'ed within a minute or gassed and beat to death, and then have umpteen excuses as to why he lost that have nothing to do with the fact that he doesn't train and sucks at life.

It's Appalachian more than "northern".

And neither of those guys had particularly strong accents. The first guy has a speech impediment, but his accent wasn't that bad.

If you dig up one of their relatives who made it past the age of 60, you'll find a much stronger accent. Some of the old mountain people speak a dialect that sounds like it broke off from English 250 years ago.

The accent is more Irish in dialect. When I travel overseas I am the only person in a group of otherwise "melting pot" Americans who can understand and keep up with the Irish. In our area we speak quickly and fail to enunciate most syllables. Thus, the "marbles in the mouth" is true to certain degree. And, trust me, it's far from the queen's English.

Agreed on the Giant - speech impediment. And swag master is a wigger of great dimensions.

You'll also hear a lot of similarities between Appalachian and Celtic folk music.

If nothing else the Bluefield area is unbelievably nice for motorcycling.
