Let Us Discuss Cold And Flu Remedies

I've got a bad cold. Don't think it's the flu, because I don't have any real aches and my fever is pretty low, but I still feel like shit.

Naturally, I've defaulted to cope and brandy. No hot toddies, because those are gay, but plenty of brandy.

I hear there are other things you can do to feel less like shit.

Tell me your preferred cold and flu remedies.

Links okay.

I'm no paleo fish oil adrenal fatigue nutter by any stretch but Quack pointed this out ot me. I've got two grade school kids and so I've had a chance to use it 5 or 6 times to great effect. Greatly speeds the recovery and lessens symptoms of colds and flu IME.

Thanks.

Do you take vitamin D on a regular basis? I take 30k to 70k of vitamin D per week already.

I don't really get sick. Mom says its because of my good genetics.

I see. Thanks. I'm not sure if it's made much of a difference in how often I get sick or not.

Chicken soup with lots of turmeric and cayenne pepper. The spices are good anti inflammatories and the pepper will help drain your sinuses as well. I usually make it in the slow cooker with lots of garlic.

Time heals a cold for me.

If your nasals are super clogged, going out and getting a sweat on will cause them to unload like you wonder how it all fit up in there in the first place. Exquisite! Then, if you need to have clear nasals (e.g., going flying or snorkeling) give yourself a shot of nasal spray into your cleaned out passages. A well-tested procedure.

there's some science that says zinc will shorten the duration of a cold.

I've been hitting the Zicam.

Chicken soup? Spicy foods? Time?

Witchcraft.

Zicam does me good early on.

If nasal passages are super clogged, I'll do some nasal cleansing via something akin to a Neti pot

Stoss therapy mentioned by BD looks interesting.

By your stage of a cold, I'd typically be on the road to respiratory infection induced asthma and a few puffs from an inhaler would help a lot.

Decongestants, Muscinex, humidifiers and a neti pot all help me. As a bonus, you can buy any or all of the last three items on that list without being suspected of cooking meth.

Thanks men.

I've been hitting the neti pot a couple times per day. Mucinex and stoss therapy are looking like the next directions.

I've also done the peroxide in the ears thing. I feel over after I did that, but it did make my ears feel a bit better for a while. After I got up off the floor.

A few cloves of raw garlic crushed and minced has some positive benefit for me when I feel a cold coming on.

How do you ingest it?

baffled, have you tried asphyxiation? Don't go too long, but long enough to get the job done. If you're not sure if the job's done, it's not. Keep going.

Only during me time. You do it when you get a cold, or have mom help?

Scoop it with a spoon and swallow. DO NOT CHEW. Whatever you do, DO NOT CHEW.
Do it with some honey or olive oil if you want.

Ideal procedure, as I understand it, is to crush the cloves with a knife, wait 10 minutes, chop and swallow. I am fucking terrible at mincing anything that small, if you have a slap chop it might work better?

I found applying a liberal amount of vitamin D cream on the backside of my scrotum has a good effect.

I'm on the down slope of a bad cold myself. Feel fine, just some congestion left. Blowing bloody green stuff out of my head and a fading cough.

What works for me is some form of light cardio to get the blood flowing. Loosens things right up and clears the congestion for a time. Jump rope worked well due to the bouncing breaking thing up maybe. HOT shower and deep breathing in the warm/humid air. Mucinex. Neti pot.

I agree with the spicy food. Anything that get the sinuses to loosen and drain is magic mana.

The neti pot seems to be getting a little smoother and faster to get the water running from one side to the other.

I'm about to eat a jalapeno with ~30,000iu (be up to 90,000 for the day) of vitamin D, followed with a little zinc and some apple cider vinegar. Seriously.

Will report back.

I know a couple that will cure you over night. But I'm not telling you. With an immune system that defective, you will die within a year or so. RIP.

Sleep. A lot of it. Hard to accomplish with a job and little ones underfoot, but make it happen and you'll see a vast improvement.

Andy,
Help me out. I'll ship you a case of PBR and cools or whatever it is you smoke.

Syaigh,
Thanks. Nyquil knocked me out pretty good, and I don't actually have a kid, so that's good.
