I might have missed this being posted here. I think that he died of a lung condition
in January. Believe he was 71.

Yes. I read it on a few post at Go Heavy. Gus Restwich(sp) was the source.

Never understood why Gus didn't become a stock bad guy in Hollywood after that role.

Jon Cole was a badass. Power and Olympic. 1977 World's Strongest Man Comp.
He trained Ron Pritchard [sp?] who was in the NFL and later wrestled.

Spoke with him a couple of times at meets in the LA area during the 70's. Lynda Carter was part of his rat-pack.

Jim Schmitz told me a Jon Cole story once that he was going to try to beat Paul Anderson in the back lift so he built the apparatus in his back yard, weighing half of what Anderson's record is. Cole tried it and couldn't budge it and never tried it again. Thus questionable numbers on these dudes for the back lift.

There supposed to be a Cole vs Anderson match to determine the strongest man at one point. Olympic plus Power and some odd lifts including the back lift.

If I recall correctly Joe Roarke has pretty utterly debunked some of the backlift claims around Anderson. Here's one of his articles:

And you should have heard the goon squat crying about it. Pathetic. Just like how someone flipped the fuck out when some of Slim the Hammerman's feats were duplicated then surpassed

I have more than just the song running through my head. She was/is incredibly beautiful. She is still quite fuckable.
