I'd like to know more about the monster inside the monster...how he presented himself to the world and the groups that supported him. Was he the darling of the local NARAL people or just a quiet monster?
Would also like to know how closely his actions represent the views of the Dem party leadership. IIRC many of them support partial birth abortion.
All before he's murdered in prison of course.

Is this the nigger in Philly? If so, I avoid reading about that story like the plague. What little I have read has scarred me for life.

The glee the media is showing while posting pics of aborted fetuses sickens me...I saw one pic, and that was enough, and there are 'journalists' throwing these pics up everywhere.

The issue is that upon making abortion difficult to get, you open the door to grotesqueries like this. Disparate people plus scumbag opportunists.

Pretty harsh when there's actually a missing kid inside the milk carton rather than just printed on the side.

It's the medical profession in general.
Which is why there are self imposed licensing bodies, regulations, and generally acceptable standards of practice throughout the medical profession. Abortion providers are medical professionals, and should be held to similar standards. And it's not like it would be hard for pregnant women in Philly to go over the border to Jersey and not have to deal with the same 24 week restriction.

Hard to get? How? The fact is, this happened because abortion was too easy to get and no one bothered to look because it went against what the democrats stand for.
Pennsylvania Department of Health. The department's job is to audit hospitals and outpatient medical facilities, like Gosnell's, to make sure that they follow the rules and provide safe care. The department had contact with the Women's Medical Society dating back to 1979, when it first issued approval to open an abortion clinic. It did not conduct another site review until 1989, ten years later. Numerous violations were already apparent, but Gosnell got a pass when he promised to fix them. Site reviews in 1992 and 1993 also noted various violations, but again failed to ensure they were corrected.
But at least the department had been doing something up to that point, however ineffectual. After 1993, even that pro form a effort came to an end. Not because of administrative ennui, although there had been plenty. Instead, the Pennsylvania Department of Health abruptly decided, for political reasons, to stop inspecting abortion clinics at all...
That's pretty clear, isn't it?
The Department of State, through its Board of Medicine, licenses and oversees individual physicians... Almost a decade ago, a former employee of Gosnell presented the Board of Medicine with a complaint that laid out the whole scope of his operation: the unclean, unsterile conditions; the unlicensed workers; the unsupervised sedation; the underage abortion patients; even the over-prescribing of pain pills with high resale value on the street. The department assigned an investigator, whose investigation consisted primarily of an offsite interview with Gosnell. The investigator never inspected the facility, questioned other employees, or reviewed any records. Department attorneys chose to accept this incomplete investigation, and dismissed the complaint as unconfirmed.
Shortly thereafter the department received an even more disturbing report -- about a woman, years before Karnamaya Mongar, who died of sepsis after Gosnell perforated her uterus. The woman was 22 years old. A civil suit against Gosnell was settled for almost a million dollars, and the insurance company forwarded the information to the department. That report should have been all the confirmation needed for the complaint from the former employee that was already in the department's possession. Instead, the department attorneys dismissed this complaint too... The same thing happened at least twice more: the department received complaints about lawsuits against Gosnell, but dismissed them as meaningless...
NAF is an association of abortion providers that upholds the strictest health and legal standards for its members. Gosnell, bizarrely, applied for admission shortly after Karnamaya Mongar's death. Despite his various efforts to fool her, the evaluator from NAF readily noted that records were not properly kept, that risks were not explained, that patients were not monitored, that equipment was not available, that anesthesia was misused. It was the worst abortion clinic she had ever inspected. Of course, she rejected Gosnell's application. She just never told anyone in authority about all the horrible, dangerous things she had seen.
No kidding that this NAF rep didn't say anything. Because her and the entire government establishment repeatedly refused to look at the clinic, inspect it, hold him accountable, pretty much anything else.
Everyone who was supposed to know about it knew about it but they deliberately turned a blind eye. These people were government official and members of a liberal organization and they deserve the blame on this. Conservatives who oppose abortion are not to blame for this. The grand jury even said this was ignored for political reasons.
But despite the articles emphasis on the conditions there, the real story is about this "doctor" murdering children by cutting their heads off. He should get everything that's coming to him and the true face of abortion should be exposed.

Abortion is murder. Liberals like to think they champion science but their absurd insouciance over the empirical fact of this is all you really need to explode that lie.

I'm not really interested in reading anything else about this guy. I read a bit about it the other day and was sick to my stomach.
Is the death penalty a possibility in this case? I am 100% against the death penalty, but this case makes me question that stance a little bit.

Exactly. Just like doctors have co-opted childbirth and taken it away from midwives so too have they co-opted infanticide, which has been a mother's right and responsibility since the dawn of time. Women have been disenfranchised for too long, we need a home based movement that mirrors the renaissance of midwives and doulas that health conscious women demand.

Even if you set aside the abortion issue, and that of the children killed, fact is that women were harmed when a doctor refused to abide by accepted and established medical standards. The state, which has a responsibility to regulate his medical practice, failed in it's obligation to protect them.
Miserably.
With consistency.
Just like they did at State College.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office needs to be reformed and gutted. Their lack of concern for the vulnerable, which borders on contempt, is disgusting.

Nah, Chesser, your ex pat status means you have no real interest in the US. It's ok champ, there are lots of expats, but you sure love talking about shit you have no investment in.
Birth control should be a woman's right in this country, including early term abortion. Unwanted children fill the prison systems and also are on the rolls as significant welfare recipients. I don't like late term anortions and never have, although I recognize that health issues with mother and child may warrant them.
If we didnt have the repressive fundies opposing sex education and birth control, then abortion would decrease.
As far as this issue of me being a coward, you can go and eat a big fat pile of shit, fucktard.

According to the CDC, Troy, 1,979 pregnancies "greater than 21 weeks" were terminated in New York City in 2009. Does anyone else wonder how many "viable" kids had their spines snipped with scissors? All over the US it was 7,206 "late term abortions".
See table 7 here ->
http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtm ... 1.htm#Fig1
African American women have a lot of "late abortions". In 2009 in the US 3,342 abortions done beyond the 21st week to white women. 3,660 were to African American women. They're close but not proportional - whites are four times the number of blacks. (Table 22, Ibid)
I recall another CDC report, which I don't have handy, that claims that one in three pregnancies to African American women end in abortion.
There is a reason that the US Media has "blacked out" Kermit Gosnell's trial. I bet there are many like him, quietly killing "viable" babies all over the US. Gosnell was busted because he was running a Pill Mill. Otherwise he'd still be out there, slicing spinal columns with scissors.

When this story first broke it was huge in the pro-choice movement as an example of what happens when women do not get access to sex education, birth control, and family planning services because of the de-funding of legitimate clinics. This asshole preyed on poor, uneducated, desperate women who did not believe they had options elsewhere, were afraid to speak with their families, and had no legal recourse for pursing action against him. The narrative that pro-choice activists have tried to tamp this story down is absolutely laughable. It was a big deal among them, you can find lots of articles written about it when he was first arrested. Conservatives are jumping on the bandwagon late and trying to twist it for their political gain.
