In their zeal to tout their faith in the public square, conservatives in Oklahoma may have unwittingly opened the door to a wide range of religious groups, including Satanists who are seeking to put their own statue next to a Ten Commandments monument outside the statehouse.

If you demand the religion in government, you don't get to pick and choose which religions gets included.

Looking forward to the Temple of Set opening up shop across the street from the state legislature.

During the Summer of '83 I was serving in 2d Battalion, 2d Marines and the battalion
was on Air Alert when I had a brief conversation with a young Marine from the Communication
Platoon. I cannot recall the specific issue, but he was temporarily attached to my platoon
in case we were called up, I think.

Anyway one of the Platoon marines told me the communicator was a satanist.

Within a week or two the satanist was hit by a car. He got a bit fucked up, but lived.

He never showed up in our platoon again after that. Always wondered if one of his Satanist
buddies tried to kill him.

I forget the details of his accident, but I do recall they seemed fishy as hell at the time.

We had a pretty extensive unrinalysis testing policy then. Our battalion commander had
recently finished a tour with the Division G-5 shop and he liked to spring surprise tests
on a pretty rapid basis.

Point being is I don't think the Satanist was on drugs when he was run over.

I seem to recall issues like this popping up many years ago, when I was a young'un in the 90s. Never really understood it back then but it's hard to believe that they are setting some type of precedent with this.

Bob, Bullet points might help us follow this story. TIA

I've been running their PA field office in Aliquippa as you know, and things are going swimmingly.

My guess is someone throws up legislation to block the Satanist monument, and then the ACLU uses that in their suit to get the Commandments removed.

Actually you generally do.
