I'm still trying to figure out why a woman wound want to be a Marine in the first place.

We used to have a saying, "The Marine Corps builds men, regardless of sex". :axe:

Well, if half the females are failing the basic physical fitness requirements, they're gonna need to draw-up some better blueprints.

Either that, or start recruiting stronger chicks.

My time was a long time ago. I never met a BAM that wanted to be anywhere near an infantry unit.
I doubt if they are very many now that desire that. It seems like this has been a long slow process by people, now in power, to socially engineer the military in the way they think is right.

Each generation seems to have some group that gets farther and farther away from common sense. :toimonster:

The delay rekindled sharp debate in the military on the question of whether women have the physical strength for some military jobs, as service branches move toward opening thousands of combat roles to them in 2016

Women not strong enough to meet Marine standards? No problem! Just lower the standards.

THEN PUT THE WOMEN INTO COMBAT!!!

The Infantry Officer Course wasn't created until after women were put into The Basic School with the men. It is common for women to struggle with the O-Course, especially when they have to climb the rope at the end.

Who will be to blame when women experience more casualties and/or mistakes resulting in death than men?

IOC was going strong in 1983 and was not brand spanking new then.

Serious proposal: Let the Army & Marines select and operate just one all-female infantry battalion. See how that works for 10 years.

Since there are about 76,000 thousand women in the Army, less than 1.5% would need to serve in the infantry. I predict TOTAL FAILURE.

*****

Clearly, excellence in warfare is no longer the primary objective.
Convenient that this push is happening now that the wars are effectively over, and there will be no Butcher's Bill. But enough women officers will get their Combat Arms time to push them to the highest levels of military leadership.

The insertion of just one female around the type of guys drawn to warfighting totally changes the dynamic, and gets the troopies off-kilter. I had several different Female Engagement Teams cycle through my position on one deployment to Afghanistan, and a bunch of higher ups, aides and other female wingnuts on another deployment. My guys totally lost it; walking around shirtless in 20° weather, flexing, hanging out around the female tent at all hours hoping for a glimpse; i.e. not preparing themselves or their gear for the dudes outside the wire that were going to try to kill them on the next day's patrol. IMO there is neither supply nor demand for putting women into infantry units, at least internally. This whole discussion has been created external to the Services, but we will pay the price in the next conflict by softening the entire force for political aims.

Sexual assaults, rapes, pregancy, crazy barracks prostitution rings, and all other shenanigans are sure to occur. We will have to have even more (non combat related) annual training requirements in awareness and other bullshit. Every small unit leadership action will be second guessed by the leaders executing them. I hope like shit that I'm not a company commander when the first infantry female privates start showing up in the Fleet.

^ Why they should be no where near front line units and any women brought up there should be comfort bitches, so all the boys get a suck off before going out.

A Marine Corps captain has been speaking out against women in the infantry:

You should see some of the hatred Capt Petrino has taken from her "sisters in arms" about this article in recent years. And once again, not from women who want to be infantry officers, they just think they should be allowed if they want.

Anyone on here ever spent time bottled up in Bradley or amtrack? Pissed in a piss bottle while stuffed into a deuce and half for three hours? Stood butt naked under a fire house (with your weapon within one arms reach) to get your first shower in two months. Logistically alone, how the fuck does all that work in integrated sex infantry units?

Teddy Roosevelt required his officers to be able to walk 50 miles and his staff to ride nearly twice as far on horseback.

It's nice to know that most Marines could reach fitness standards that would enable them to achieve a gold star on a middle school fitness test.

Most Marines I know, male and female, can carry 35-50 lbs of body armor, 10lbs of ammo, and a weapon while wearing a domes of discipline-- all while keeping their heads on a swivel and being reasonably able to engage the enemy.

But I'm sure the view is very different from fort living room.

And that doesn't even touch on the combat arms debate.

I was complimenting them.
