I love that fucking car and someday I would like to get one.

Another one, is it true that the CVT in the newer models can mimic decently a low-range gearbox? I'd like to go off-road once in a while.

It's got 1.2 inches less ground clearance than the ordinary Forester. That's gonna limit the off road capabilities some.

The Forester XT Turbo yes. It's a blast. CVT with the paddle shifters really the way to go.

I'll keep it in mind, but I won't be trying to follow a Jeep Wrangler on a rocky path. I just want to make sure that the AWD, good tires and a "low range gearbox" (kinda, since it's a CVT) allow me to enjoy some mild off road fun.

The unfortunate thing I learned early on is that the really cool cars don't make it to the states.

Unfortunately most Americans would prefer to buy ridiculously oversized 2WD "trucks" to haul air.
