Talk me off the ledge: foosball

You know when you get to wanting something you really ought not have? So it is with me and a foosball table.
I played a bit in college bars, was ok, nothing special. Now I play a couple of times a decade in someone or others garage on a table found on the street. I always love it and hold my own against someone who has a table and plays regularly, when I certainly don't.
2 weeks ago I was on craigslist trying to talk guys down from $100 for their table to $50. This week I was trying to talk guys down from $200 to $100. Now I'm thinking of buying a new tournament caliber table for $540 delivered:

I've got no one to really play against besides my 12 y/o son or some drunk buddy who never really liked the game. And even if I got good on this table, what good would it do me on them other friend's curbside specials?
Man, this thing probably costs more than Shape's Big Green Egg, and certainly more than Shaf's Dyson vacuum! Am I crazy to even be thinking of this? Have any of you ever been so stupid?

Quit fucking around and get that table. And get the tournament one. I'm sure there's tons of drills you can do by yourself. Then on weekends you can go to wherever there's tables and play. I've always been impressed by good fooseball playing. It's the one bar/parlor game I never had an opportunity to get proficient at. Pool, ping pong and darts I'm a killer but sadly growing up I never had access to one. I was in a pool hall in Cali one time years ago that had a half dozen fooseball tables as well. They had a tournament going on and I was just mesmerized by watching really good players play.

I fucking love ping pong, pool, and darts. I'll play that shit all night.
Marginally funny story...had a buddy come into town a few years ago. A short rowdy scrapdawg like our Mickster here. It's a fucking Wednesday night and he wants to find a place to play ping pong. Well I track down a bar that has one and we get over there and it's a quasi-biker bar and no shit, there's a ping pong table with about 20 people standing around it. It took about a half hour but my friend and I owned that table and played for fucking hours while drinking shots of Patron. I was getting seriously fucked up. We took a little break and my buddy went out to smoke a cigarette and one of the dudes there says to me that I'm alright but he's gonna have to kick the shit out of my friend. I asked him politely not to do that then went outside and told him to chill on the fucking trash talking. We played some more and it was all good and I ended up getting home at 3:00 in the morning and had to go to work the next day. Oh, my jacket got stolen as well.

alright, i'm buying the good table. this is why i ask you guys and not my wife.
the problem with buying the nice table, though, is that the tournament style men are different, and the nature of the game may not translate to the shit tables with traditional men that most people i know play on.
oh well, time to make new friends...

I love ping pong too, that was last year's purchase. I bought an outdoor table that lives in the garage and plays in the driveway.

Love ping pong, like foosball. Good work on the purchase. Doesn't pay to be the richest man in the graveyard.
In regard to the big green egg, does anyone own one? I've been thinking about upgrading my 10 year old Weber Kettle Grill
