Companies such as WWE and ESPN feed off of controversy in an attempt to be edgy enough for people to watch. I actually didn't think the Hogan news was real but a brilliant storyline to crossover into mainstream media. I am still not entirely convinced of it but, in either situation, he's a wrestler who is 20 years past his prime and easy enough to sacrifice.

Cowherd was hired to be a shock jock to talk to himself about sports for hours each morning. ESPN, slipping in numbers, happened to fire him a few days after he resigned to (likely) jump to FOX?

Actually, I take that back.

I know it sounds insane but I actually listened to what he said. Not the 12-second sound byte but the entire bit. I listened to him explain it in the next show as well. In the context of what he was discussing, no way it was a bigoted statement. He tossed "Dominican Republic" out there but that wasn't even what it was about.
