A week or so ago I posted on my TL about a movie in development based on a scenario of a modern USMC MEU finding itself transported to the banks of the Tiber river in the time of Augustus Caesar and tagged some friends onto Roman history and some USMC vets I know who are history nuts too.

It was not long until a FB Friend into Historical European Martial Arts was getting a tad condescending and know it all about it when he knows shit about a MEU but hey, no biggie for us I.G.ers and then one of my jarhead buddies got a bit insulting. Blah, blah, blah.

I even took a shot at saying "C'mon guys, play nice!" but I did post some vids on an MEU's make up and capability as I took the position that if the CO played shit right, he'd ass fuck the Legions around Rome so hard and take the city that they'd effectively rule the Empire before their fuel, batteries and ammo ran out and how there is enough know how in such units to make ammo and lower tech firearms, bio weapons and what not. But I was not being dickish to the dude.

Now I also posted some Full metal Jacket, the battle of Hue to illustrate a point but also some good natured rooting for the team I like (Yes I take the USMC over the Romans, odd I know. And who does not love Animal Mother!)

Now he and my jahead pal got into it and in a very I.G.X like fashion they challenged each other to fight! Of coarse one is in the Western US and another lives down the road from me in Va. so this fight is about as likely as BD and Fat Cat battling it out over Pistols and Barbell squats!

Well HEMA guy got real bent, made a post on his TL about how much he hated most marines, how he almost got in a fight with a bunch, yadda yadda and said " They don't fight for me!" Even after my jarhead buddy PMed him and apologised

But I thought he vented, no harm done and his stuff came across my newsfeed for a few days. Then today I go to link an article about the death of Gail Zappa to him as we are both big Zappa fans and his screen name would not come up when I tried to tag. I go over to his page and I am unfriended.

I PMed him and asked him what was up?

He sent me back a long thing going over how my pal offended him, how marines have fucked him about, how I "was clearly on his ( Jarhead's) side and how it seems I have a lot of such friends" and all though "we are not enemies, but I don't need that negativity on my feed."

I actually was a lot more diplomatic in my response than any here would think, even apologised if I gave offence and meant none, understood how sometimes jarheads can be dicks like anyone and how I have knocked the shit out of some in my time but also how I owed a lot to a few due to friendships and how a few along with Trooper helped me divert from a bad road in my 20s. ( the jarhead's friend being one of them)

God, people are thin skinned and some niggas need them some I.G.X to toughen them up for internet Flame Combat!
