Donald Trump's call on Russia to hack Hillary Clinton's emails has shocked, flabbergasted and appalled lawmakers and national security experts across the political spectrum, with some describing his comments as "treason."

. . . William Inboden, who served on the NSC during the George W. Bush administration, said Trump's comments were "tantamount to treason."

"Trump's appeal for a foreign government hostile to the United States to manipulate our electoral process is not an assault on Hillary Clinton, it is an assault on the Constitution," said Inboden, who now teaches at the University of Texas at Austin.

The deleted emails are just about yoga and Chelsea's wedding and such. No work related emails were deleted because she said so. No possible harm to US interests if they're released. They'll just give us an intimate look at her warm and loving nature and prove once and for all that "She's with us".

Yeah, exposing treason is treason. LOL. Lets all wait and find out about this 2 years into Hilary's term.

In the middle of the Dem convention, Trump is owning Hillary.
I'm starting to get his shtick.

The takeaway is: Hillary...secrets...emails...Russia.

We'll never find out. They'll extort her with the emails. She'll spin whatever actions she takes as favorable for the U.S. And we'll never know.

Are pro-Hillary people really not worried about this? If her "personal" emails weren't "personal" at all, and can be used to blackmail or extort her, isn't that a severe national security/foreign policy problem? Every person, pro-Hillary people included, should want to know what was in those emails so we can all know there is no extortion problem.

These guys truly have no sense of humor, and I doubt the esteemed Bush hack, Mr. Inboden, actually watched the press conference.

Were Hillary's emails ever actually hacked?

We won't ever know b/c it wasn't or it was and is being used as blackmail as Turd mentions. If information ended up with WikiLeaks, we might see it, they've implied they have some Clinton Foundation emails, for example. Presumably quid pro quo type stuff, like the Laureate Education/Bill stuff appears to be.

Without partisan histrionics:

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-31806907

Here's one of my bigger questions:

According to Mrs Clinton, she sent or received 62,320 emails during her time as secretary of state. She, or her lawyers, have determined about half of those - 30,490, roughly 55,000 pages, were official and have been turned over to the State Department. Mrs Clinton said the other emails are private - relating to topics like her daughter's wedding, her mother's funeral and "yoga routines".

So a little over HALF of the emails she did at work were personal? Seriously?

As to the was it:

The July 2016 FBI report found no "direct evidence" of unauthorised access to her email servers, according to James Comey, but that the lack of robust security meant that "it is possible that hostile actors gained access".

Something else to keep in mind, DNC hacked. They have a fairly large IT infrastructure, Hillary had some guy in Colorado.

This is neither a pro nor anti-Hillary argument, but the idea that her server was more secure than the Dept of State's or the DNC's is scary.
Overlooked in the controversy over Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, is the fact that suspected Russian hackers have bedeviled State Department's email system for much of the past year and continue to pose problems for technicians trying to eradicate the intrusion.
Federal law enforcement, intelligence and congressional officials briefed on the investigation say the hack of the State email system is the "worst ever" cyberattack intrusion against a federal agency. The attackers who breached State are also believed to be behind hacks on the White House's email system, and against several other federal agencies, the officials say.
