Sucked. Save your money.

Took my almost 5 year old boy and 8 year old girl to 1:00 PM matinee so it was empty. My son spent most of the movie roaming the theatre, while my daughter leaned over and told me it was the worst movie she has sat in. Uninteresting for a kid, mostly.

The story pacing is so slow, but then the race scenes are totally frenetic and I couldn't figure out what the hell was going 99% of the time. A waste of John Goodman, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, and whoever played Speed Racer, who was quite good. It had two the most hated things about movies on my things-I-hate list: a smart-ass kid and a chimpanzee with human tendencies. I hate chimps, except when they're castrating stupid people.

On the positive side, there were scenes of absolute stunning visual awesomery. Visually amazing at times. Worth going to see for that reason, if you get in cheap and have NOTHING else to do, or are just into that sort of thing.

I saw the previews and thought, "Well, the "Wipeout" racing game from the Sony Playstation finally made it to the big screen. Nice." Probably the Designers Republic had nothing to do with the movie, though.
