I watched this again tonight for probably the 5th or 6th time since it came out.

Looking for a good little ghost story? Minor blood, good chills? This stars Pierce Brosnan towards the end of his "Remington Steele" days as a French anthropologist who has given up fieldwork to teach at UCLA.

His first week in LA, he becomes intrigued by a roving group of violent punks, the anthro bug kicks in, and he goes running off to study them. This is a very bad idea; that's not giving away much, considering that he dies in the movie's first scene and the rest of his story is told in flashbacks.

This is a ghost story of the Old School: a dogged investigator, a slowly unraveling mystery, and plenty of "Okay, that can't be good" moments. And there's nothing in it that will sour a date night.

PS And yes, that is Adam Ant as the leader of the nomadic punks.

Brosnan's character is the awesome as a single-minded academic. He tells his wife that he's going out "for a minute" but then grabs the camera and a handful of film, throws on his bush jacket, and doesn't come back for two days. Doesn't sleep, doesn't rest, just follows the nomads and records it all.

BTW, John McTiernan of "Die Hard" fame directed, and Ted Nugent did the soundtrack.
