Snus; Swedish chewing tobacco. A friend of mine introduced me to it 6 months or so back. Their unique method of preparing and packaging it makes for some tasty stuff. FWIW, apparently 1 in 3 users in Sweden is female. Comes loose or in little tea pouches, like bandits. It's all graded by strength so you can scale your enjoyment of it as you see fit. Also, and this is key, even with shipping costs it comes out to be considerably cheaper less per can than most American brands.
My recommendations, General Onyx. Packaged like the Cadillac of Black Tar Heroin and pretty fucking strong. Also like the eucalyptus flavored stuff.
This is a good place to get some:
http://www.northerner.com/html/snus-S_g ... rtion.html Try their variety packs to see what all is out there; they've a pretty astonishing number or varieties on offer.
There's been a bunch of talk about it on P&B if you want to find out more.

That is a fascinating fact about Swedish women.

Agree that one is the best one you can still get in the States-- the Romeo y Julieta is good too, but no longer available here.

Ah, the deft use of

SBW, what flavor is a Copenhagen guy gonna like? I'll probably try some variety but if you know what runs similar you could save me some time.

I'm thinking "General" brand. Either the "stark" (strong) or the Onyx. I'd probably try the loose stuff and the portion to see your preference. I prefer portion for convenience. Some guys think the snus tastes a bit like tea because of the flavoring agents, but if you don't mind a bit of subtle lemony/citrus flavors, you probably won't care. The Northerner tryout packs of up to 24 flavors are a pretty good deal too, if you want taste test to find your preference.

I used to date a girl that would partake in some Copenhagen, but then again she was into a lot of things.

I believe Beefheart brought this up some time ago.
Everything Willie says is true, but for the variations on the taste. Swedish snus is salt and tobacco. That's all. If you use it with pouches, the material is made from the same stuff that tea bags are made from.
Certain brands have added flavor, like citrus. Kind of like Skoal has Peppermint.
My advice: avoid the flavors.
One cool thing about Swedish snus: many brands have "an ashtray" on the top of the can. That is, a little lidded compartment you can put loose or portions in. Very handy.

The little ashtray thing is pure genius. As to the flavors, I think they are largely offered to the growing female customer base in Sweden, especially the mini portion stuff. But, importantly, they do have a unique flavor you have to try at least once:
Rape tastes like juniper berries.

Nordic American Smokeless Launches its Klondike Snus Products
I've ordered some from Thompson Cigar. I've never used snus before, by the way, I think it must of been Steamy that turned on Seeahill.

I should make myself clearer-- I've ordered some of American-made Klondike Snus from Thompson. I haven't tried it yet, I'm a very occasional dipper. I did a lot of Cope and Skoal about 25 years ago when I first quit smoking. I eventually tapered off, as I've poured progressivelly less concrete and became less dependent on firewood in the intervening years. I'll review the Klondike in due time.
A quarter of a century ago I smoked a pack and a half to two a day. Started with Kools as a teenage doper, moved to Marlboros, Camel Filters, and was smoking Camel straights when I quit. Today I smoke about three cigars a week, getting into it about eight or so years ago as my first marriage dissolved.
I'm sure Seehill was turned on the first time he ever heard "nobody ever picks Italy."

I got a free tin of snus(Frost flavor) the other day. Strong very long lasting peppermint flavor. No desire to smoke a cigarette or eat anything for a long long time. I'm adding the recommend to my "Stop Eating So Fucking Much Diet". But shit, I do not want to quit smoking, so I'll only use the stuff when I'm out of cigarettes.

Hey Andy, they make snus for heterosexuals too:

Cheaper than buying that Camel crap retail too.

Andrew,
I don't think that flavor is peppermint. I think it is bergamot orange, the same stuff that they use in Earl Grey tea. Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's not peppermint.
Also, it's sweet. While Swedish snus tastes faintly of salt. Unless you buy the kind of Swedish stuff that is flavored with citrus or bergamot.
Also, a second warning addressed to Turd: on March 16 I ordered $93 worth of snus from the Northerner. It hasn't arrived and they haven't answered my emails.

I have never had problem with them; I've ordered from them 3 times. Always promptly delivered. I'd recommend getting the big sampler if you're unfamiliar with the brands they carry, though I'm a fan of the Lucky Strike these days.

So now you're telling me I don't know what peppermint tastes like? Well then what does it taste like? Chocolate or Orange? Pork or beef?
PS. The Camel brand calls this flavor
Frost. Go buy some and then tell me what it tastes like. Try to be more scientifical, please.
