Brooks Cascadia trail runners

I've been an Asics guy for years. And I've been using their Trail Attack or Tribuco trail shoes for as long as I've been runnin trails. But the guy at the running store I frequent had me try a run in a pair of Brooks Cascadias.
They have a good lug, but not so much that you couldn't do some running on the pavement if you need to. They're the perfect "do it all" shoe to take on trips. The sole threw me when I first saw them because there's no "transition" from heel to forefoot. It's just a solid sole and tread on the bottom. But that made the shoe super stable on the trail, and as I'm a forefoot striker I don't notice any weirdness in the feel of the shoe on the road.
I still have't committed to a pair of Brooks for the road, but I may get a pair after trying these trail shoes.
Verdict:
Non-technical trail running (trails you can acctually RUN) - 10
Really loose or technical trails - 8
Pavement - 6
Do-it-all - 9
A solid buy if you run on multiple surfaces.
