Don't bother. I remember banging the hell out of a high school girlfriend to "Dance the Night Away"

Yes. My nephew likes Justin Beiberer. And the rest of the "Disney Rockers". Some of the bands he likes dont even have musicians. And autotune is a bitch to listen to.
That was fun to watch. Good memories.

Children need early exposure to The Ramones, VH, and Black Sabbath to prevent such tragedies.
Sorry to hear about your nephew TOM.

My boy's assessment of the Ramones, when he was about 9:

"They're not very good at it, but it doesn't matter."

I happen to be partial to "Fair Warning" and "Diver Down" don't get me wrong I like the other VH. My kids listen to some of the pop music when they are with thier aunt. I on the other hand give them a good dose of Iron Maiden and Audio Slave, oh yes and alot of Motorhead. Thankfully they think Justin Beiber is a girl.

Quite on their own, my kids, 24, 19, and 15 found "my" music and love it. I like to think it's just good genes.

My 14 yr old step- daughter used to sing along to Beatles songs in the car when she was four.
She digs Van Halen, Ozzy, the Clash, the Who, basically all the stuff I play in the car.
She likes a lot of crap, too, but thankfully not that Bieber kid.

Well, yes, but other things "took."

The 11 y.o. likes Zeppelin, and his brother (8) goes for The White Stripes. I think he's sweet on Meg.

For guitar players, when this came out everything changed. Thousands of guys moving the needle back on the record and saying 'WTF.'

My 10 y.o. daughter likes Green Day. I also expose them to the classics as well as Tool, White Stripes, RHCP, etc. The 10 y.o. is really into the Beatles as well. Alas, she is a big Bieber fan who I constantly make fun of along with all of the other Disney "singers". That Selena Gomez chick is hot though. It's okay, she's 18.

I had VH #1 doing unending laps in my 8-track player in my used green Ford Maverick with 3 on the column and a big puke stain going down the driver side door when I was 18.

The call of Disney is strong!
Anybody have advices on how to get my 14 year old to appreciate Sebadoh and Helmet?
