For all you California folks or those traveling, Hearst castle is worth the trip. Beautiful place. Lots of wine tasting around there, if you're into that. To build a place like that now would probably cost at least $100 million.

It's boring. Just go drink wine, get shitfaced and act like a dick. You'll have a better time.

I liked it. It represents a time and a place that can never happen again. Rosebud....

Did msr make you listen to Rush the entire time, and if so, did it affect the historical ambience on your getaway?

Paso Robles has some decent wine (and some holy shit you people actually sell this) wine as well as some good eats down on the square.

Bit of a jaunt from both Hearst and Paso but Pismo Beach is pretty cool too.

The castle itself and history is pretty cool if you get a good guide. I felt the tours were a bit of a rip off since there are four separate $25 tours and no way to get a full tour without taking the tram back and forth from the visitor center to the castle. For anyone wine tasting on the same day the 46 over the hill can get get some serious fog so drink appropriately.

Thay have it now so that you can get tickets for another tour without having to go back to the visitors center.

They should make it a high speed rail stop.
