Batiatus and Solonius vie with each other for the favor of one Marcus Licinius Crassus, an Equites who aims at the Praetorship. Thrilled by the bloody violence of the fights, Crassus decides to set up his own gladiatorial school. In the arena, the Batiati are ground down by injury and death, while Crassus’s numbers never seem to shrink. Can the ludus survive against such odds?

This original novel from the world of Spartacus: Blood and Sand tells a brand new story of blood, sex and politics set in the uncompromising, visceral world of the arena. The gladiator Spartacus, the new Champion of Capua, fights at the graveside of a rich man who was brutally murdered by his own slaves. Seeing an opportunity, ambitious lanista Quintus Batiatus plots to seize the dead man’s estate. In the arena blood and death are primetime entertainment. But not all battles are fought upon the sands...

Well, the writing for the series is horrible...I only watch it for the gratuitous sex and violence. I can't imagine wading through a book based on this crap...maybe a graphic novel.

Honestly, Wild Bill...this is like asking us if we read the novelization of Cougar Town.

Well let us know how it is, because what Kaz said about the TV series is true.

They try to get all Shakespearean or something with the dialogue and it's terrible.

In for deets on the novelization of Cougar Town.

Sword and ashes review

There is violence aplenty, all described in gloriously gory detail that provides just a little more detail than is necessary. Thinking about it, the same can be said of the sex scenes! It is these two aspects of the story that are surprisingly far more affecting than when viewed in the TV series. The violence in particular, although seen in the readers imagination rather than on a screen, is far harder hitting than the books visual brethren.

Ha...yeah, right.

Hey, do they have porno magazines in Russia? Are they of the same quality as what we have here in the US? How did you get porno mags back when the communists were in control? Did you have to go stand in line for 6 hours waiting on a porno mag, and then at the end you found out that you'd been standing in line for National Geographic?

There a lot such magazines, but i never read them, so can't say anything about quality.
Not because of morality, this is just wasting of money for me :)
