Ok, the title is a bit much, but this is a really good book. The book is all about s & c for grapplers. The book is layed out in a format that takes you from GPP through SSP and into a deloading phase. He refers to these as levels 1,2,3
The beginning has some basic background info on Mr. Saylor and general physical fitness. He describes the "shingitai six pack" which are the core exercises. He also gives guidelines to shoot for and a chart with other similar exercises to mix into the rotation to avoid getting stale.
Level 2 is the sport specific exercises to transfer all this strength and conditioning to the mat. This is really where the West Side Barbell influence comes in. Lots of reactive type training and the conjugate method of mixing exercise is heavily advocated. Also lots of speed type work for throws is shown
The unloading (deloading) phase is right before the fight. Lots of stories and examples of people he has trained with.
There is also extra sections on stretching and grip training. The book comes with a cd that hits the high points of the book and is a little over 30 minutes. Very enjoyable to listen to. while driving.
I wish the book was formatted just a little better, but for the quality of information and with the cd for $29.97, it's a tough deal to beat.
I think it's an excellent deal and recommend it!
