Anyone done a winter float in the Canyon?

From the title, I thought you were going to tell us about your new girlfriend with a huge vagina.

Have not "floated the canyon" myself, no.

I thought that it meant your government was listing one of the great wonders of the world on the stock market...

P.s. I've done the walk down to, and along the river. Your trip sounds awesome, something I would love to do.

So is a wet suit or dry suit required for a December float? No idea what air temps will be for you.

I kayak in the winter, and have to dress for immersion. Heading down to the beach this weekend for surf kayaking, air temps in the low 40s. Brrrr....

I've got a dry suit, but it's uncomfortable to wear for a full day on the river. I'll probably wear it in the big rapids where submersion is possible. For most of the river, I'm hoping to get by with a typical base layer, fleece woolies and heavy duty waterproof gear. Neoprene gloves. Neoprene booties. Keene river sandals over the booties.

Temps can by 20-30s at night, 50 day. It's a canyon and the days are short. We won't see a lot of sun.

Turns out my cousin's ashes are scattered in the Canyon, his last wish. We were about the same age and grew up together. I talked with his sister and said I'd toast him with a drink but I knew he didn't drink. She said, "naw, his wife was an alcoholic and that's why he didn't drink. When he did, it was the best Irish whiskey he could buy." So ... a toast to my cousin, RIP, and a good excuse to bring a bottle of Red Breast.
