I'm going to go grapple here in an hour or so. Got a couple of dudes who Crossfit. I'll have to pay attention & see if I'm any more impressed with their level of conditioning then I am anyone else's.............

I have found that lighter grapplers can get away with it better. I know several judoka in the 60, 66, and 73kg classes that do @F and seem to be fine. The guys with the best conditioning in our room wrestle. A lot. Do some wrestling workouts as well. Lift heavy. Don't do the @F thing. Taking someone with good GPP means nothing about them actually being able to acquire SPP and skills. The opposite, taking someone with good SPP and skills, is relatively easy (and mundane) to get them decent GPP. Not that those regular to this thread (or anyone with a real S&C background) needs to be told this.

Besides, when would an elite @Fer actually have time to practice a real sport, because they must spend all of their time working on their fitness in order to stay ELEEET???

According to Tommy Hackenbruck, that type of athlete just has “too big of an engine.”

No they would take 45min to nit-pick the bar position on his back and the fact that his knees drift in ect....slop is only allowed in @fit wods with 95lbs. Tommy, of all people, should recognize the value of athleticism in picking up, and excelling at, movement patterns. I mean he did play at a D1 school or did he forget that top athletes made it there for a reason, and not because they were average.
