The couch thread

That is pretty funny. I especially like that the dude who started the thread, purely to mock someone, is speaking as a 'Physical Therapist Assistant.' Now if that ain't credentials for DL critique, I don't know what is.

Alright, while we're mocking, Jeremiah has a w/o log blog. He should not be looking outward to poke fun. For the last 'Diane', he did 90# pulls and, yes, he has a Totalgym. From his log:
"Diane"
21-15-9 reps of:
225 pound Deadlift
Handstand push-ups
Post time to comments.
I completed:
15-9-6
90 pound Deadlift
Handstand Push-ups on Total gym Level 7

I'm not real convinced about that, wrt high rep deadlifts...McGill's research has shown that the endurance of the back is more important than maximal strength for injury prevention, and that the birddog style of movements are vastly superior to supermans. Higher rep deads with low loads are probably just fine. Higher rep deads with high loads really make the lumbars ache, though, thus this:

What made me snicker was Neal Winkler apparently takes everything Chad Waterbury writes as gospel, and seemed a bit put out by the last trash article Chad wrote.

I mean, the premise of the article was bad enough, but for Neal to bring it up on the XF board, which is the antithesis of Waterbury's retardation, is the height of folly.

Shaf,
Where in the Starr piece do you get anything regarding a connection to high rep, high load DL's? Everything in there is about strengthening DL muscles by doing other lifts, and everything is still kept low-rep.
I still think high rep DLs are bad mojo. Too much change in form as fatigue comes in.

Nah, I'm drawing that from the McGill materials.
I think probably the cost/benefit ratio of high rep heavy deadlifts is a bit high, but you can do them safely, or most people can, anyway.
Whether or not you should do them should be thought about before hand. I can only think of one specific strongman event that has you do heavy repetition deadlifts.

Unreal. I've done 405, but not an SLDL and not for a triple, just a single. I've done Diane, as RXed, not with fucking 25s on the bar and a total gym, in something like 7 minutes, and I'm impressed by this kid.elrodjr wrote:Alright, while we're mocking, Jeremiah has a w/o log blog. Just sitting slack jawed that a guy who massively "scales" BOTH the volume and weight of a DL workout has the balls. They're putting something goood in that koolaid. In fact, I think I know what it is - see pics above.

You fucker. I was eating when I read that.Fat Cat wrote:60k is totally do-able, what with Glassman's recent AIDS diagnosis.

With the dipshittery there continuing strongly, I don't see why 80 or 100k shouldn't be hit sooner or later.
One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

AIDS???? That's just his excuse for being out of shape and being Hostess Cup Cake's man of the year.
It's his upcoming pedephilia trial that's going to push this thread over 60K.
