The Complete Kano Jiu-Jitsu (Judo)

Bought this book this weekend. Interesting look at Judo 100 years ago.

The good

1. Compared to manuals from this area it's pretty easy to read and follow.
2. Interesting strategies and techniques not normally found in modern Judo.
3. One of the few Judo books with pressure points which they call "serious or fatal blows"
4. A complete section of old school Jiu Jitsu hand and wrist lock lechniques
5. Interesting variation of Judo throws like O soto gari and Kata garuma
6. Some nice sweeping techiniques when your opponent is in the mount position
7. Actually describes some leg and ankle locks

The not so good

1. No descriptions of Atemi (does list counters to strikes)
2. The repeated use of the word trick to desribe a Judo techniques
3. NO concept of the guard.
4. Some of the desciptions could use some more details and pictures. (limitations of the age)

Overall a good book, over priced at $20.00, but I'm a MA junky and I'lll by pretty much buy any book with the words Judo, Boxing, or Hsing-I in the title.

Arms are the only true badge of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of the free man from the slave.

I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery.
