What percentage of people going to the Y or the big box gyms do you think fall into that category?
Quite a few...
I bet it's 95% or more. Just heading over to the gym to pump some iron and hop on the treadmill. Do the Nautilus and sit on the upright bike if they're fat. Not training for anything in particular. Just working out to work out and "stay fit".
Don’t believe everything you think.

Pat O'Shea, author of Quantum Strength & Power Training. I'm familiar with the name. Clarence Bass has a few interviews with him on his site before he passed. I was curious how good his book was.

Nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't have to be done crossfit style.

That doesn't count since it's the same shit since he rips it off. It has to be better.

Military training is supreme. Wrestlers wouldn't be able to last with their 5% body fat while out killing cropheads.

He didn't even do a good job at ripping it off. Jesse was a good wrestling coach. He actually produced good athletes. He had some rhyme to his reason.

CrossFuck does not. They don't produce anything, other than worn out, middle aged wannabes who never were. Couch calls out some random shit, they all get their ass kicked, and somehow assume that means it has made them better. Better at what is the real question? A whole lot of nothing.

Glassdick likes people to think he invented this shit, which is what makes it so amusing. He starts coaching in Pasadena and just happens to copy the exact style of a well known coach from Hermosa Beach, which is about a half an hour drive. He was basically Jesse's fucking neighbor. He then uses all of his shit, and now sells a fucked up translation of it to a bunch of clueless fucks who never did anything.

Talk about the American dream.

No shit. I wasn't referring to CrossFit. Crossfitters don't even compare to the elite condition of wrestlers.

Dan John wrote this about Cerutty in one of his articles:
I've been a fan of Percy Cerutty for years. Cerutty was an Australian track coach/guru/fitness buff/nutcase who coached some of the best middle distance runners in the world in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
Some consider him a nutcase, but rarely have I found normal people to have all the answers. Again, if you strive for normal, spend an hour at a Las Vegas casino and take inventory on the what "normal" is in America today.

Why was he crazy? He told runners to:

• Run up hills.
• Lift weights.
• Eat odd foods like oatmeal, veggies, and fruit.

Arrest him, I say!

Before I was born, he insisted that all athletes do the big five lifts:

1. A deadlift.
2. A form of pressing. Cerutty liked a lift called the "bench press." I'm not sure if it ever become popular.
3. An explosive full body move. He liked the heavy dumbbell swing.
4. A form of pulling. Cerutty liked pull-ups and cheat curls. Cheat curls are like a power clean with a curl grip (power curls) or that bouncing heavy bar curl you see every gym-rat in the world do when he gets tired from strict curls.
5. An ab exercise. If deadlifts make you go one way, the ab exercise should strengthen you in the other.

After going heavy on these lifts with two to five sets of two to five (save for swings and abs where the reps go fairly high), you hang from a pull-up bar and stretch for a few minutes.

Recognize it? I think I've recommended this workout for thousands of people, after I, uh, invented it.
A novice is someone who keeps asking himself if he is a novice. An intermediate is someone who is sick of training with weak people and an advanced person doesn't give a shit anymore. - Jim Wendler

So are you saying military training is cross training?

This has gone from cross training (crossfit) to wrestling to military? I don't see your point.

Put a group of recruits who just finished basic training and a group of inseason wrestlers in a contest of various physical tests I think I would put my money on the wrestlers.

back in the 60s in the offseason, i used to:
lift, run stadium steps, sprint, skip rope, work on a speed bag, do push-ups, pull-ups, dips, sit-ups. get drunk and wrestle.

the cave men invented this stuff.

First, don't bag on The Giant (although I get it, and it's mildly funny).
Second, when did this become a serious discussion of fitness? Are you braindead fucks trying to destroy this marvelous thread.

I'll have none of that. Now back to discussing ANYC's tits or Sharibabeez lack of self-esteem.

Didn't Cotter train at a CrossFit at one time? His pathetic personal training workouts looked like they were taken from CrossFit Kids workouts and he just increased the sets. His didn't do shit, however. If I could take back one thing in my life, it would be fucking ever going to his training.

Youngman, congrats on not being able to tell from my handle. Why do you try to cover Cotter's ass instead of getting him help, bitch, like a real youngman?

Oh, I'm not worried for Steve. I don't think he's worried about your critics, too. I'm just trying to figure out how much resentment is possible from a single person, and you make up for a nice case study.

Bitch, why don't you ask the nurse in charge of your care there? Then you can resume your mouth back on Cotter's dick.
