Did my part...

My wife was talking to her best friend on the phone while I was flipping through channels when I heard something that sounded too much like @fit to be ignored.

I immediately muted the TV and asked WTF she was talking about. Sure enough, another girl had been doing @fit for a month and was full on koolaid mode trying to convince the bf to join the cult.

I gave my wife an utter look of disgust, said "FUK that shit". Well, those words of wisdom were not enough, so I simply said, "The men get smaller, the women get bigger and everybody gets injured...it's just a bunch of white folks running in circles trying to get tired. No programming, no progression, no purpose -> FUK that shit.

You like it or not, Xfit will have and retain more clients than any other cult. Most people hate exercising and do it only for losing weight or because it is considered good and trendy. Average trainee gets bored with chasing one goal, while chasing no goal is fun. The point of training of most people is to move x hours a week, whichever way, without trying to run the distance faster, lift more weight, to score more points etc. No goal - no frustration of not achieving it.

My wife - a personal trainer - uses sort of @fit approach with her clients all the time: changing programs every workout. Otherwise they just leave.

Yes, it is fitness ADHD. But that's life, and most clients will have fun and health benefits of working out with Xfit. :axe:

Some affiliate trainers may not be bad, but have you ever met a kool-aider? Check out the long list of injuries and that of their victims.

If your wife feels she has to entertain clients by doing random workouts then she needs to educate herself and the clients better.

We have over 200 clients a week go through our place..classes and small group training. Only about 2% care about progression. And these are usually kettlebell geeks that really care about their training.

People do like to see their numbers go up like..."When I first came I couldn't do 1 push-up...now I can do 50..." type of stuff but that happens naturally.

Trust me, if you gave all your clients a simple program of progressive overload using the same exercises they would all be bored and leave.

People are bored enough in their day-to-day lives, last thing they want is boring workouts.

The other 98% want a good workout, get a good sweat going and feel like they've done something. They're not training for any athletic event..if they were stuff would be different, but sometimes moving just for moving sake can cure alot of ills.
And let’s not forget SHAF the pajama clad postulator extolling opinions on a dozen different fitness forums 10 to 12 hours a day including major holidays.

SMET, does stuff like this help to paint the picture? IMO, the problem was never with the program, it's with the people who do the program (the cult mentality, unprovable claims, douchebaggery, arrogance, refusal to understand basic training concepts, on and on...). Nothing wrong with training variety per se, definitely nothing wrong with exercise.

Besides, 99% of @fit trainees will "scale" the workout down to 95lbs.

Functional Fitness: The other day at the Petco, I had to unload a tractor trailer of 100# dog food bags by hand. Sure I met pukie about a dozen times and now have a double hernia, but I have grown to savor the taste of puke and I always thought my single hernia looked lop-sided. 3.2.1...GO!
