Last time I ran 1.5 miles with 45 sounds? In April of this year went on a mountain bike ride in a popular desert wash right after a rain. It started raining on the last half of the 13 mile loop. Anyone who has ever seen a flash flood running through a desert wash knows how dangerous it can get. With mud binding up my tires and brakes, I carried a well-mudded bike and RAN! I could have abandoned my bike, and would have if felt necessary, but CF repares us for life as we live it. Thanks cross it and thanks to people like Dae Han for the inspiration and their personal sacrifice.

If you cant run with your barbell, dropping it on your head for AMRAP in the same amount of time it would take you to run = appropriate HERO sub.
first post....couldnt help myself. The fine line between genius and insanity has seemingly become blurred. Already know of two people who have numbness/tingling in their arm from carrying a barbell on their spine for 1.5 miles. A weighted vest is one thing, but when the force is exerted on a 2 or 3 square inch area...while running...that's just absurd. There are many things that thoretically could come up in "the real world" that Crossfit is excellently geared to preparing for, but some hypothetical real world situations should never be practiced for. What's next? Handstand walks on flaming coals? Sawing your arm off for time? Don't be the sheep that follows the shepherd off the cliff. And don't give me the "if our soldiers can suffer through such and such then we can do this" speech. It is disrespectful to Sergeant Park and all of our service men and women to compare what we do to what they do.

Did this instead:
Front squats (135)- 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 with one 15 foot rope climb between each set (11:24)

Best abuse of equipment I've seen is a cluster fuck involving group rowing. Teams had to row x number of meters, then take the ergs apart and run with them, put them back together and row some more. Kind of a @fit cock up of the Royal Navy Field Gun race:

Is anyone surprised at this workout, really?

They have done stupid shit like ring handstand pushups which for the average @fitter is a head injury in the works, they have done a series of workouts in a few days where over 175 pullups were done, all kipping, and now running with a barbell. I guess a vest or a sandbag isn't good enough, we have to run with a smooth metal long object that is about 7' long. Where in the "real world" is that ever going to happen? You are more likely to run with a heavy bag in your hand than a pole, unless your name is Sergio Bubka and even that pole isn't 45 pounds.

The guy who called him the "most dangerous man in endurance training" was a Crossfit Endurance coach who works for him. It was on Max Wunderle's site first.

There have only been a small handful of people who have done 100 mile ultras using CFE (at least those that have acknowledged it).

For a point of reference, here are some benchmarks in American ultrarunning:

American 100 mile road men's record is 12:12 by Rae Clark in 1989 in Queens NY.
Western States 100 mile record is 15:07 by Geoff Roes in 2010 in Auburn CA.
Hardrock 100 mile record is 23:23 by Kyle Skaggs in 2003 in Silverton CO.

Of course you can't compare times in a tough trail race to a flat road race and vice versa.
But I've yet to hear of any CFE athlete who has finished a 100 mile ultra within 2...no, 4....err...6....maybe even 8 hours of an elite athlete. Usually that means about 50% slower. Which is hardly something to brag about.

Given that most people have never even heard of ultramarathons, nevermind know what is "fast" and "slow", BMack can sort of take advantage of that by making ridiculous claims.
Unfortunately for him, ultras have really taken off in the past 5 years or so. I wouldn't be surprised if Oprah finishes a 10 hours 50k pretty soon.

Serious question, what are Glassman athletic achievements? I do not know know so much about him, but he's hardly a picture of health or fitness, in any of the pictures of him I've seen so far.
This thread is so long it must have been covered before, but a quick recap would be much appreciated.
