Best imperial stout. Ever.
…well, maybe.

Had Ten Fidy right after having this:

And I have to say there's a new champion. Ten Fidy does exactly what it sets out to do, and they don't need to change anything about it.
But Founders' Breakfast Stout is even richer, and just, well, better.
Never thought I'd find a better Imperial Stout than Ten Fidy. But tasting them together, I've decided I was wrong.
I just wish they'd make it in cans.

Founders has come into their own with stouts.

Had an Odd Side Hop Gobbler and a Triomphe IPA tonight and a decent Michigan cider. None of which you'll find outside of Michigan.

I have to say the Texas craft beer industry is 5 years behind Michigan.

I'm not as big a fan of the KBS as everyone else. maybe worth a revisit.

I am looking for a good bourbon/cider recipe for Thanksgiving. anybody?

To be clear, I'm having the breakfast stout, not the Kentucky breakfast stout

That's what I meant... the KBS is the rare one, right? never had that.

"Gingerbread finished," huh? Their plain old small batch bourbon is one of my favorites--if your buddy shares, post review, please.

Just started to get into whisky, in my little experience so far i have to recommend Tomatin 12yo Single Malt

I'd say on the bottom of that self-actualisation pyramid shit, proper decent coffee is in there with wifi, tits, food and shelter

For those of you in the Bay Area, Sierra Nevada just opened a tasting room in Berkeley. Lots of beers only available there. Looks pretty cool-hope to check it out next week.

Outstanding. I'm only 45-60 minutes from Berkeley.

Thirteenth Colony Southern Rye.

Just picked this up at the store. It's from a distillery that just got going down in Americus, GA. Very good. Smoother and has a bourbon-y creaminess to it that different from most ryes. Worth a try if you can get it.
I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. I shot one once, but by the time I got to it, it had turned back into my neighbor's dog.

Seriously, I have no idea what all the fuss is about. I'll give it another chance, but this was a total letdown.

Now this is a real beer. Just an old time favorite.

Dead Guy is one of those beers that I know a ton of people swear by and I think is just "meh". It's OK, but from all they hype people were giving it I thought it going to blow my mind.

Felt the same way about Fat Tire the first time I had it. At the time you couldn't get it here on the east coast, and I was driving across the country and tried it at the first bar that had it on tap. I was totally let down. There's 50 beers better than Fat Tire on the east coast.

I get Fat Tire in that it's a decent, accessible "gateway" craft beer, and if you're at a football tailgate or party it's a welcome respite from the usual Bud/Heineken/Amstel offerings. But honestly, Sweetwater's 420 is better in that role and is bigger hit with both Bud Lite drinkers and craft beer drinkers alike. 50 better beers on the east coast? At least.
Dead guy isn't as accessible as either 420 or Fat tire. It's priced to compete with Belgian and Americian-Belgians but its nowhere near as good as Sierra Nevada's Torpedo or Stone's IPA, both of which are cheaper by 50% but are twice as good.

Wife scored some good ones for Christmas

This beer is great. Sour, but not overly so. (Found at Whole Paycheck of all places)

Image
Not my first time w/ this, but it's chocolatey, tart, delicious.

Got this one as well but i've never had it and only got 1 bottle so it'll be saved for a special occasion.

Hit up one of the best beer bars in LA the other day and tried my first offering from Cascade. It may have been th most balanced, satisfying, keep you wanting more funky/wild/sours I've ever had.
