RIP Jose Fernandez

Post by Bud Charniga's grape ape »

Marlins pitched killed in boat accident.

Incredible talent; one of the best young pitchers I've seen in a long time. And while I'm not a Marlins fan, I always liked Fernandez because he always seemed to be having fun; seemed to actually like playing baseball, as opposed to the sour-faced unwritten-rulesmongers who predominate.

RIP.

Agreed. He seemed like a kid who was really having a good time playing the game.

Just 24, and announced a week or so ago that his girlfriend was pregnant.

Sickening. And a boat hitting a jetty is not so nice way to go.

Damn, such a great talent and amazing story about how he got here. He was maybe the most exciting pitcher to watch - none of the unwritten rule tough guy bullshit, just a real joy at playing his sport at the highest level.
